August 22, 201212 yr Have only been to St. Simons once (about 3 years ago). It impressed me as kinda a southern Cap Cod in that, while many people come to vacation there, it had a sizeable year around population with "regular lives" (do not rely on the tourist industry). Had the best breakfast in my entire life at some small restaurant (cannot recall the name) Thought the beaches (at least the one we were at) were just average, espcially when compared to others in Georgia and South Carolina. Overall very nice.
August 22, 201212 yr Great shots! Unlike Brunswick, St. Simons is much as I remember it -- though the gazebo at the lighthouse is new. The Village (as locals call the "downtown" district) looks the same and even has many of the same shops. Is the big bar facing the water still Brogan's? I've had a few, or more, drinks on the balcony there. Thanks for the memories.

Thanks for the memories. yep, yep brograns is still going strong. we ate dinner there out on the balcony on the first night, thats where the pic of our little friend the crow is from. seemed like a very popular and lively place for sure. there is a nice coffee shop/performance space around the corner from brogans on the main drag that i liked and an upstairs bar called rafters where i had beers while my spouse was shopping that was good too. there is also a kind of neat strip plaza near the airport with lots of nice local restaurants where we ate and shopped several times. however, of course mostly we just rode around on bikes or hit the beaches. here is where we stayed, just across from the lighthouse - highly recommended!
