Hi---was considering doing lasik eye surgery, though not completely sure yet. Can anyone recommend any good doctors/places to do it?  As well, any places I should stay away from? Thanks.

I know of a few that have gone to the Cleveland Clinic's Cole Eye Institute and had good results; that said, I hope you're not just soliciting input from this forum.

$4900?  It's $4900 now.  My cousin had his done for $2300 at the clinic.  You would think the price would go down.

I had mine done at <a href="http://www.roholtvision.com/">Roholt Vision Institute</a> in North Canton in 2008.  I think it was $3600 for both eyes, after a small discount I was eligible for (I think $4000 would have been sticker price).  With the possible, possible exception of the engagement ring I bought for my wife, it was the best money I ever spent.  (And she tells me she probably wouldn't have been as interested in dating me if I'd been wearing glasses.)  I've tested at better than 20/15 vision in both eyes even up until 11 months ago (I go in once a year, so I'm up again next month).  I've had no abnormal dryness or halos around lights at night.

^Great, thanks. I just visited "Clear Choice" in Brecksville. Pretty scary. You don't get examined by a doctor until the day of surgery which is a day after surgery prep. On the initial visit, you meet with a non-medical salesperson who can't really answer any technical questions, but is there only to close the sale. You don't even meet with an optometrist!
