September 14, 200915 yr The Weideman Building(s)... actually there were 7 buildings that made up the complex. Located on W. 9th street between the Bingham Building and National Terminal Building. Not only is it beautiful, but would have really helped add to the density of this area (currently around 1500 people live on W. 9th). It was demolished in 1953 after the Weideman Co. was acquired by Sara Lee.
September 14, 200915 yr I honestly can't believe the difference in West End. Although most of us can't relate to what the areas were like when they were destroyed. But I would have never guess the magnitude of what was there! Even those Cleveland has lost most of the Warehouse District, the near eastside inner city, the flats, downtown gems (hippodrome), and neighborhoods lost to freeway construction...from this picture alone, I feel that Cincy has lost much much more.
September 15, 200915 yr it's astonishing to pull up google earth and get it so you can see basically the same image as above of the West End in Cincy. It's incredible how destructive the freeways are.
