Posted September 28, 201212 yr In August I took a trip to Chicago to see a Reds series there. They played a four game series Thursday-Sunday and I went to three of the games. I got a ride to Chicago from a friend but had to take the Greyhound home. We stayed at a buddy's place in Wrigleyville about a block from Wrigley Field. Here's a collection of shots I got of Wrigleyville, The Loop, Near North, and then the Indianapolis Greyhound Station. I'm not very fond of the Chicago Skyline from any point driving in. I think the skyline looks drab. Great shots from the Lake, but not good for driving in IMO. I wasn't expecting to make it in time for the game on Thursday but there was a one hour rain delay so I got there in the second inning. Luckily I found someone (I think homeless) who was selling tickets. P8099451 by ryanlammi, on Flickr Wrigley Rooftop seats along N. Sheffield. P8099456 by ryanlammi, on Flickr Harry Caray statue. The guy I was sitting next to on the bus kept offering me hard candies. He would randomly start dancing/punching the air (but he wasn't listening to music) and he drank a two-liter of orange soda. He had to use the bathroom about 4 times between Chicago and Indianapolis and he kept scratching his legs and arms the whole time. He was definitely on something... After we got off the bus in Indianapolis for a transfer he told me that he was Carlos Beltran's cousin. I think I believe him. I want to believe him. The Chicago Greyhound stations was dirty, crowded, and smelled bad. I was actually really impressed with the Indianapolis station, though! It had a certain beauty in it despite its aging infrastructure. Here are some photos of the station (It's really close to Lucas Oil Stadium, too). September 28, 201212 yr Was in Chicago that same weekend, but took the MegaBus up there and back. It was pretty crowded. Lots of Reds fans on the bus. Nice pics.
September 29, 201212 yr Great shots. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 29, 201212 yr fun trip! that is by far the best looking trump that guy ever put up. the first pic of the bus station cop desk made me laugh - it looks like an old tv show or movie set!
September 30, 201212 yr Good photos. It's a shame they tore down the old bus station that was still there in the early sixties; it had been built in the early 1900s as the interurban railroad station, serving several electric rail lines that ran through Indianapolis. It was just a block from the Capitol, as I recall, and the vast old trainshed still stood and spanned what once had been seven tracks. Although buses took it over by the late 1930s, in the 1960s the tracks still were in the floor,
September 30, 201212 yr Thanks everyone. There were a lot of Reds fans in Chicago that weekend! I was actually using my mom's camera for the trip. I occasionally take one of her cameras when I go places. She is a photographer so she has decent cameras.
