Greetings,

I was at a house warming party this evening. I got to talking to a few friends that recently went on a trip to Chicago. They were just going on and on about how Lake Michigan was so "blue." Of course they don't spend any time in actual visual range of Lake Erie; no surprise. While many of use here all know the reasons for Chicago being a clearer lake water experience, I could not truly convince them of the virtues of Lake Erie. So what I'm looking for are some great Lake Erie shots of your own, the "blue"er the better.

NOTE:  I am looking for your permission to show these photos in a Facebook post and NOT for any commercial use. It's the primary means I have of communicating with these people and ideally I'd like more than just these specific people to see them, but we're talking fewer than 100 people in my "friends" list. More than happy to attribute to you or a website if you so desire if you don't have in photo credit images. Still a bit inebriated. I hope that makes sense.

By posting or linking photos in this thread you agree to the above usage, and that rights to the photos are yours to distribute. In exchange I promise to follow what ever instructions you give me for giving credit. Just trying to be up front about this. I have no intent to distribute them beyond that.

Here's one I took last week.  Sun was setting so it's not directly overhead.  I spend a fair amount of time on the lake and I think the water has never been more "blue"

Here's a few photos from a couple of summers ago.  They were taken near Huron & Vermilion in Erie County (near the transition of the shallower western basin to the deeper, bluer central basin of the lake).  Not for commercial use, but use these photos all you want!  8-)

The more Lake Erie, the better.

Of course Lake Erie is blue.

Okay, I need you to build a proper transit system for Ohio. You promised.  :-D

We need more pictures of the small summer towns between Toledo and Cleveland. Vermillion, Port Clinton, Marblehead-Lakeside, Huron, etc. are needed here. Anyone have Nickel Plate Beach?

Even in the worst of winter, the water can be blue......

But let's think of warmer times (and this is between Toledo and Cleveland, mostly!)......

My favorite place in Ohio, Marblehead Lighthouse:

*The water looked really good on this day. A warm, dry spring that year made Lake Erie warm up fast. The water was 70 degrees before Memorial Day! It hadn't rained in over a week. This color is what's possible with reduced runoff in Lake Erie. It can basically be the same color as the Detroit River. Feel free to share this with your friends. I'm happy to promote Ohio's Lake Erie coast.

Wonderful pic C-Dawg! And excellent point about runoff. Summer Drought? I'm going snorkeling.
