As a small town, Bismarck leaves something to be desired. As a state capital, it is disappointing. The state capitol building itself is interesting because it is so unique, but I am partial to a more traditional statehouse.

Meh.

Interesting to see. Never really thought about what I would think Bismarck would look like. But if I had, I wouldn't have been too far off.

The McKenzie building is pretty sweet.

What, no pictures of Space Aliens?

I spent a few days in Bismark about 12 years ago in the dead of winter, on a job. I had to laugh when I picked up my rental car and asked the lady there how far the hotel was. When I gave her the name of the hotel, she said 'oh, that's far. It's clear on the other side of town!"

I got there in about 9 minutes.

I've heard the North Dakota capitol building described as the "penis on the prairie." I call it the world's tallest structure between Duluth and Spokane.

I'm loving that train depot.

A few in interesting looking old blocks, some horrendous newer stuff: I'm guessing you spent a good part of your stay in the Blarney Stone Pub near the playhouse. Looks like drinking is about the funnest thing to do there.

I've been to Space Aliens in Bismarck, in 1999. Glad to see it's still there.
