Posted October 2, 201212 yr As a small town, Bismarck leaves something to be desired. As a state capital, it is disappointing. The state capitol building itself is interesting because it is so unique, but I am partial to a more traditional statehouse.

October 2, 201212 yr Interesting to see. Never really thought about what I would think Bismarck would look like. But if I had, I wouldn't have been too far off. The McKenzie building is pretty sweet.
October 2, 201212 yr What, no pictures of Space Aliens? I spent a few days in Bismark about 12 years ago in the dead of winter, on a job. I had to laugh when I picked up my rental car and asked the lady there how far the hotel was. When I gave her the name of the hotel, she said 'oh, that's far. It's clear on the other side of town!" I got there in about 9 minutes.
October 2, 201212 yr I've heard the North Dakota capitol building described as the "penis on the prairie." I call it the world's tallest structure between Duluth and Spokane.
October 9, 201212 yr A few in interesting looking old blocks, some horrendous newer stuff: I'm guessing you spent a good part of your stay in the Blarney Stone Pub near the playhouse. Looks like drinking is about the funnest thing to do there.
