One of the bracing Beams on the 27th and 28th floors. This beam connects the outer wall with the inner core for structural stability. As a result the 27th and 28th floors are deemed "Throw Away floors" because these beams cut into office space on these floors.

The model was built in 1988. It cost over $100,000 to build and was used in promo photos of the building imposed on the Cleveland skyline as well as to give the owners and potential occupants an idea of how the building would look finished.

Thanks everybody!

To answer you question, I had a class at the 27th floor conference room. However, even if I didn't, I think I could have just gone to the elevators and gone up to the 27th floor with no security clearance. The security is such that they have guards checking your badges if you're going to the Key Bank floors, the rest you can just enter I guess.

Great photos! Thanks!

Excellent tour; thanks for sharing the photos.

Nice.

I worked there for 3 years on the 50th floor. Loved that place. We'd sneak into the Key cafeteria and atrium on the top floor of the Society building. Which is also a great space.

^ Is their a cafeteria up there still? Is it private?

What is on the very top floors?  At night it looks like incandescent lighting rather than fluorescent.  More lounge-looking than office. :?

Just to clarify the cafeteria is on the top of the old society building. 12th floor iirc.

Interesting.  In all the years living 'up the hill', I've never heard it called that before.  But I looked it up and I guess you learn something new every day.

Found this searching the web. Society Tower under Construction in the early 90s.

Allegheny Plateau sounds better, and possibly more accurate geographically considering the direction of the pointed camera.

From the Terminal Tower?  The regular deck or the outdoor one on 44?

The clarity suggested it was outside.   Nice.

And thank you, Richard Jacobs.

Must have been nice to have that kind of access LOL.

It's too bad it's likely too small to refurbish as a reservable event space.

I would really love to get up there.  it would be nice if they occasionally offered some kind of "nooks and crannies" tour for the public to see that space and also the Van Sweringen brothers' suite. I think floor 43 used to be open to the public at one time as an ice cream parlor. Is it a normal stairway to 44, then winding stairs to the top?
