University District- University Way is the main commercial block for the students. Although most structures are short, they stretch on both sides of the street for quite a considerable distance. The best part is, unlike the large university in Columbus, the restaurants all seem to have character:

Across Elliott Bay in west Seattle, there is Alki point. It was the birthplace of Seattle when Arthur Denny and his group first decided to make a city.

Pioneer Square burned down, along with pretty much all of downtown, in the Great Seattle Fire in 1889. Seattle was booming at the time due to the tree industry, so the entire area was rebuilt quickly. The new buildings are above the old area, and there is a neat tour you can check the underground areas.

Easily THE most comprehensive tour I've seen of Seattle on ANY of these 'urban' forums.  Well done!!!

There's a lot to photograph in Seattle!

Great photo set. I haven't been there in thirty years; thanks for the refresher/update! Excellent work!

Wow! Seattle is such an impressive City. Some much development occurring and vibrant urban neighborhoods. I also hear it is one of the hilliest cities too. I wonder which of the three cities is the hilliest. Pittsburgh, Seattle or San Francisco?

Where's the SLUT?

We want the SLUT!

Cool photos. For anyone in Cleveland, United is currently offering some fall/winter flights to Seattle for about $240 roundtrip, all taxes included. That's about as good as it gets for CLE-SEA flights.

Great tour, SS. I appreciate the old bones of Seattle.
