November 1, 201212 yr That Eton Collection is a hot ass mess but love love love Chagrin Falls. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
November 1, 201212 yr As a Cleveland native, I am biased...but no suburb in Chicago can match the charm of Chagrin Falls! Of course, the geography makes a big difference in this case. The hills make Chagrin Falls feel (kind of) like a ski town from the west.
November 2, 201212 yr My home town is looking great! I left in 1979 after growing up there and remember in the 60s and early 70s the area around Rick's Cafe wasn't nearly as upscale as it is now. What's now Rick's was a rundown barfly joint, and across the street was a biker bar with a row of hogs lining the street (something that wouldn't be tolerated today).
November 2, 201212 yr Great job capturing Chagrin Falls. Very nice photos. Downtown Chagrin Falls is looking good! Much better than Eton
November 2, 201212 yr and across the street was a biker bar with a row of hogs lining the street (something that wouldn't be tolerated today). Quite the contrary --- throughout the good weather months, it's quite common for 10-20 motorcyles at a time to still be lined up on Main Street (just north of the Popcorn Shop) on nights and weekends, with their leather-vested riders huddling nearby for hours. A biker bar, however, probably not as welcomed...

And - funny - this Chagrin resident (and one time Chicagoan) puts Lake Forest, Winnetka, Highland Park, etc... in a dreamy category all their own... If I won the lottery, I'd make a beeline for the north shore...

The hills make Chagrin Falls feel (kind of) like a ski town from the west. My former hometown of 15 years reminds more of a ski town from Vermont or New Hampshire. Chagrin Falls is the western outpost of New England. Great photo set. Those pictures from last week seem like they were taken a season ago, especially when this is what the Chagrin Falls looked like a couple days ago.... http://media2.newsnet5.com//photo/2012/10/30/2012-10-30_12-58-10_600_20121030162255_640_480.JPG http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-k5qe4g8Q0R8/UI_2tL3nYwI/AAAAAAAAAbM/o562CUVcxGk/s1600/20121030+river+after+Sandy+6.JPG "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

November 3, 201212 yr Great idea for a thread CO. CF doesn't get enough photo love on this site. In terms of just parking your car and killing a day walking around, it is hard to beat Love Chagrin Falls! BTW how many times did that German Sheppard show up? Pretty sure that is a Belgian Malinois
November 3, 201212 yr My former hometown of 15 years reminds more of a ski town from Vermont or New Hampshire. What town is that? Um, Chagrin Falls. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

What a beautiful dog he was though. just checking in to the forum in the longest time...didnt foresee all the comments, thanks! And KJP thanks for the post-Sandy pics of the Falls. Yes, Thursday Oct 25 (the day I spent in Chagrin) was worlds away from the day I posted these pics.
November 4, 201212 yr What town is that? Um, Chagrin Falls. Sorry, I misread your post, I thought you were referring to two different towns in your first paragraph. Plus, you lived in Bainbridge, not Chagrin Falls! :)
November 4, 201212 yr Nice thread - yeah, Eton Collection's layout is contemptible and repugnant but Chagrin Falls is about as charming as it gets. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
November 4, 201212 yr Sorry, I misread your post, I thought you were referring to two different towns in your first paragraph. Plus, you lived in Bainbridge, not Chagrin Falls! :) When I moved to Bainbridge in 1978, it was mostly countryside so if we wanted to see a movie (Chagrin Falls Theater, which was on East Washington just east of Main where a 3-story brick office building stands today) or go have dinner at a family restaurant (like Rick's Cafe) or play video games at bars (the only place you could back then, so my brothers and I went to Greenville Inn to play Space Invaders and Asteroids), or if I wanted to go disco skating (Chagrin Valley Roller Rink by the railroad underpass) then I went into Chagrin Falls. And our post office at the time was Chagrin Falls since Bainbridge didn't have one yet. So am I saying that Bainbridge was a suburb of Chagrin Falls? It was back then! November 4, 201212 yr So am I saying that Bainbridge was a suburb of Chagrin Falls? It was back then! It still is!
November 4, 201212 yr 1 of those houses = a Wolstein house. (Thanks for FEB) Scott Wolstein? Do they have a village house too? I remember this house that was featured in Cleve MAgazine a few years back (I think this is actually in Hunting Valley, could be wrong tho) http://homesoftherich.net/2009/02/scott-wolsteins-ohio-mega-estate/
