Posted November 4, 201212 yr Deep in the valley of the beast... Former Soviet stronghold at Bagram Airfield, shelled heavily during the Soviet retreat. Main gym at Bagram, retractable steel ribbed tent for cheap A/C in the Afghan heat. Garrison OPS on Bagram, with antique Soviet and Mujahadeen weapons on top of the awning. Old Soviet control tower. Not in use. ISAF tower. Mosque Dome on the other side of Bagram T-Walls, mostly for contracted nationals that work on the AF. I love Defenders, no other reason for this one. On tour around AO with OGAs, saw this cool door in walled compound wall. This is where the Quaran was burned that created such an issue. The truth is much more benign than media would have you think but I digress. Waiting... Tons of EM waves from SAT comms etc in the AO. Transition of the sky from night... to... And just like that Apollo and his horses breach the mountain range and the low humidity Afghan air is warmed as if under a hot lamp at your local fast food chain. Geologic beauty everywhere... Foreal. But I have things to do here in this wildest of wild lands.... ...and so we roll... .... ...did I mention geologic beauty? Entering the abyss... Great place for a market... and we are there at our first engagement... Many more to follow...
