Posted November 4, 201212 yr Went to University of Dayton for Parents Weekend a couple weeks ago with my wife to meet up with her brother and sister-in-law from Chicago and their daughter, a sophomore. I'd never been to the campus. I was pleasantly surprised. Skyline from upper reaches of campus The family A lot of nice plazas and other public spaces St. Mary's Hall Chapel of the Immaculate Conception St. Joseph Hall St. Joseph and Zehler Hall St. Joseph again Humanities Center Marycrest Complex and Central Mall Then we headed to the Oregon District for dinner and a stroll. I'd been there before, but not in a decade or so and not with my camera. 5th Street streetscape (first of many) I love the juxtaposition of neighborhood and skyline, with old towers ... ... and the modern Dayton has some cool church steeples The vintage car is not the same vintage as the architecture, but I still like the pairing Again Sort of a flatiron Elaborate cornice illuminated by the setting sun More juxtaposition Flags & fantasies More cornices Street musicians! And with fans 2nd Street Public Market Downtown, silhouetted against the setting sun I'd love to see these wedding photos! This is America! So is this! Pre-Statehouse greek Revival!
November 5, 201212 yr I loved these pictures--nice job, UrbanSurfin! So many of the Oregon District buildings possess great character. (And I can't believe that I'm not cruising down one of those streets in that beautifully maintained vintage Pontiac!)
November 5, 201212 yr My old Alma Mater has seen quite a few changes since I've last been back in 1997. Nice set.
