This new road would run from Africa Road near U.S. Route 36 to West Cherry Street in Sunbury, according to ODOT's project website. The $31.9 million plan also calls for a combined I-71 to U.S. Route 36 interchange to meet the roadways' growing capacity. The existing interchange sees more than 36,000 vehicles per day. Construction is expected to begin this summer and take place in multiple phases. https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/local/2025/01/15/new-i-71-exit-near-tanger-outlets-delaware-county-ohio-highway-proposed/77714290007/ It's good they're being semi-proactive here. This area is only getting busier and busier. I bet 40 years ago people living in this area were mostly the "Columbus far away and scary" types and now it's mostly people commuting into the city for work.

January 16Jan 16 I'm excited for this! Though I can't help but feel like it'll be a replica of Polaris Pkwy and Ikea Way in terms of distributing the traffic. I could've sworn that I read earlier that the interchange was going to be named Wilson Rd. So I'm much happier about Sunbury Parkway because we have too many duplicate roadnames in Columbus. (Wilson & West side Wilson Rd, multiple Taylor Rds, Hamilton Rd & Hamilton Ave, Broadway Grove City and Broadway by Riverside Hospital...) *Sees Sunbury Rd* Oh...shoot.

So I'm not willing to give Delaware County any leeway from my broad assumptions in the same way @TIm is if people within 270 still think the same lol

This, and more breaking news, tonight at 10.

I would say Licking county, not just eastern. There are plenty of people all over this side that still use the analog of "I'm not going to Easton". It basically means they will surely be murdered as soon as they get past Hamilton Rd exit on 161 if those sweet summer children ever venture from their far and away idyllic country paradise of Johnstown.
March 18Mar 18 Mixed-use development to be built on 115 acres near future I-71 interchange in Sunbury "A 115-acre property near a future highway interchange in Delaware County will be the site of a new mixed-use development. Sunbury Gateway will include 451 apartment units and a 62-acre commercial development. The site will be accessed via a Fourwinds Drive extension that will be constructed along with the new Sunbury Parkway interchange off I-71. The U.S.36/37 interchange also is located to the north of the property, along with Tanger Outlets to the east. The project is led by Wilcox Communities. The Worthington-based developer has acquired 60 acres for the development and said it expects to close on the remaining acreage at the end of the month. "It's the last of the four quadrants around the 36/37 interchange that has not been developed..." https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2025/03/14/sunbury-gateway-wilcox-communities-cody-coughlin.html

Taking bets on how long it takes for Polaris to become the next Northland/Morse Rd./161 corridor.

Northland/Morse/161 never had a business presence like Chase brings to Polaris. While I somewhat agree this is absolutely necessary for the regions growth. Not everyone wants to live in the urban core and that’s ok. I can’t imagine what central Ohio is going to look like in 10 years. There is housing going up in a lot of traditional exurbs like Mount Vernon, Zanesville, Chillicothe and London. Even reaching out further to Mansfield, Ashland. It’s a great time to be in the state of Ohio.

That’s fine, as long as those same people don’t complain about driving times to get places. Sprawl is eventually going to make central Ohio awful to get around. If these developments continue to spew up all over, it would be great if they would all think about future transit options, outside of a car.
March 20Mar 20 People in the Columbus metro are notoriously averse to long commutes as compared to other cities. People will drive up from Portsmouth to work here every day but a local wants to be in the same suburb as their job. So when the good jobs moved up to Dublin-Worthington-Westerville so did all the money and stores.
