Beautiful!

Nice!  Is there anything on the roof like a sunning deck or "patio" furniture?

It is a small patio. We have a small propane grill and two small chairs.

Here is a picture with my back to the grill.

Damn.  I live in The Buckeye, and we aren't allowed on our roof at all.

Dan, is that your private patio or does the building share it?  It looks great!  Imagine how exciting it'll be when there's a tower being constructed just across Euclid from you!

It is private. The fence separates ours from the neighbor's patio. Unfortunately I will probably be moving in the near future. My fiancee had a contract position on the west side while I work on the East side. We decided to get something downtown that was really nice to celebrate both of us graduating, to party, and to make our work commutes easier.

[by the way, reverse commuting is nice becuase every one is literally going the other way.]

Now my fiancee has a full time job on the east side so we are trying to find an East Side suburb that we like (Leaning towards Cleveland Heights). We want to buy a house and build equity rather than pay a mortgage size rent payment and not own anything.

But we have really liked living downtown, There is so much to do within a 5 minute walk.

Cleveland Heights is nice and all, but have you considered buying in Cleveland?  Where are your jobs?

Eastlake and Mayfield Hts.

I wished we worked downtown. Then we could buy a condo.

In terms of location, Something around 271 + 90 would be close to both our jobs. But, we don't really like any of the suburbs east of 271. They are not walkable at all. Thats why we were looking at heights.

yeah, east of Cleveland Heights, you're going to have some serious trouble with walkability.  bummer.  but didn't you say you liked the idea of commuting out?  (I can't just let you go, now can I?)

I would be the same for me. Instead of taking Carnegie/Cedar from downtown, I could take cedar from heights. It would be a shorter distance. I kind of feel like a sell out. LOL.  I made it 24 years as a Cleveland resident. We haven't made a final decision yet. Don't forget, me and my fiancee are engineers. We will over analyze every aspect before a decision is made.

that is a nice balcony.

More apartments downtown should be converting or atleast offering "rent-to-own" options.  It gives folks a reason to stay.

In regards to your relocation, have you thought about "cleveland best neighborhood" Shaker Square?

Ahh... Shaker Square, currently my favorite Cleveland neighborhood.  My wife and I will be moving in about a year and are looking at Cleveland Hts, Shaker Hts, and Shaker Square.  I'm really leaning toward Shaker Square, I love the urban fabric of that neighborhood.

^ Man, I would love to looking at this everyday.  What a gorgeous view of the surrounding downtown neighborhood.

Come on over....we'd love to have you! :banger:

Is that building with the new, white "penthouse" on top the May Co. building? If so, what's the penthouse? It looks like what a developer usually adds when making a conversion to residential.

That's the WT Grant Lofts.

Thanks. I wondered why that looked like something that belonged atop a residential conversion.
