I liked Gilbert's tweet saying the hiring will benefit Detroit AND Cleveland.

It looks like the Lions will remain in the Ford family for the foreseeable future, so Gilbert may have to pursue another team, assuming he still wants to do so with his health situation.

Maybe he's interested in another team in another sport and in another city....the Indians perhaps?

God, I know you're up there.....please please PLEASE let your angel, Dan Gilbert buy the Chargers from the demon Dean Spanos, and move the team back to where they belong in San Diego, California.

Thank you.

I’d be super stoked if the stars ever aligned for Dan Gilbert to acquire the Indians - the team needs ownership that will spend what it takes  to attain  a championship and  he’s demonstrated he has that mettle.

Still recovering from his major stroke and given how serious it was  - I suspect Mr. Gilbert will be doubling down on his commitment to his hometown  Detroit. I actually wonder how long -term his plans with the Cavaliers are.  Then again , I’m sure he’d love to build them back to a championship contender without #23.

Sad news. The Gilbert family certainly has had some tough health issues.

Very interesting interview.  He's done a lot for Detroit and Cleveland.  The interview mentions the comparison between Cleveland and Detroit.

This is mostly about Detroit, but there's parts favorable to Cleveland, too. Paywalled, I think.

Dan Gilbert is part of a growing class of billionaires using their family offices for strategic purposes well beyond their own financial well-being.
