As suggested by mrnyc in the courthouses thread, let's post photos of city halls in Ohio and marvel at their architecture.  Either that or look away in horror.

I'll start with the three I seem to have any pictures of.

Dayton

Delaware

Xenia (well, the doorway...)

Yes, that is Columbus' City Hall.

I LOVE Dayton's and the old Springfield City Hall.

I've always been fond of Hamilton's Art Deco City Hall.  Of course I may be partial as my dad's office growing up was just to the left of the Liberty Bell replica in the picture.  I'd go with him after work and while he'd work, I'd roam the halls . . .

Celina's looks interesting.  It almost looks like a firehouse with a tower.

Here's a wide shot of Dayton's, just to see the whole thing.

I am also a large fan of Dayton's City Hall.  It's subtle yet beautiful.

I agree.  Nothing fancy, but there's just something about it I love.  Am I correct that it used to be a YMCA?

That is true dfly.

I believe so.

^Eh, somewhat.  It really reminds me of Xenia's Courthouse, which is also Richardson Romanesque.

The City Hall in Marion.

As for the architecture... no comment.

i did not think it possible, but middletown's city hall has out uglied lorain's.

Piqua City Hall

I think there may be an older, historic city hall building next to or attached to the new building, but I don't really remember and can't find a good pic

For some reason I have a picture of what must be the back of Piqua's city hall.  Is the part on the left possibly the older building you're thinking of?  It doesn't look particularly old in my photo, but the exterior could have been redone.

Me too. Of course you'd expect that.

Built in 1935 as a WPA project, the design of Hamilton's Municipal Building was presented at the American Architectural Exhibit at the Paris Exposition in 1937.

The building now functions as a business incubator as the city has relocated to the tower on the left:

Kettering's looks like a landing spaceship. Centerville's is a take-off on the ye olde Colonial feeling.  Beavercreek's is new no doubt.  Springboro's is even newer and just now opening.  Oakwood's is pretty and Tudor-ish.  Dayton's is the coolest.

Wow, Mansfield's is hands down the best city hall in all of Ohio. ;)

The good, the bad and ugly...  Some really great city halls! Is there a photo of Warren, Ohio City Hall? It's the grand old Perkins mansion. Its when the city halls are combined with many other city offices that are the kind of structures that make you feel like you're in trouble when you go there!  :police: Not inviting!

"Springfield Old" is very cool.

The Cincinnati City Hall is next to a Jewish Temple, Catholic Church, and Episcopal Church so it kind of fits in as a 'secular cathedral'

Wow, Mansfield's is hands down the best city hall in all of Ohio. ;)

Indeed; I was so disappointed to hear about the bombing there.

Luckily no one was hurt and the fortress only sustained minor injuries.
