I'm not sure how often (if ever) people visit my site, but just wanted to let everyone know that I've made quite a few updates in the past few months. Quite a few new images and in a lot of cases, I've replaced older/smaller images with something new and improved. If you ever want to take a virtual trip to the Terminal Tower observation deck, you can do that too  :-) Feel free to take a peek - and enjoy. http://www.clevelandskyscrapers.com

Thank you for posting this.  Keep bumping this when you update it so people know.

MayDay, just wanted to let you know I love your site.  I've been visiting is periodically now for a few years (I can't even remember how I found it); it's nice to have facts and statistics of all the Cleveland (and the rest of NE Oh) skyscrapers concentrated on one site.  Again, great site!

How fitting that you have the one skyline photo of Akron with a Goodyear blimp in view in the distance.  I like that shot very much!

I can't wait for Bonus IV.

Nice! I like the larger images; your photos have a lot of excellent detail, and the larger pics make it easier for me to see.

Hi folks - in the next few days, there's hopefully going to be a major addition to the site.

The addition concerns a major project slated for Cleveland that didn't materialize, and it will feature images that were never released to the general public. It's amazing what can happen when you ask nicely  :-)

Ohh.. the endless possibilities.  Can't wait for the update, I'll be sure to check the site.

^ That's what I was hoping for.  So sad... what could have been.  I'd much rather drive there everyday than the burbs... blah! :-P

god, i remember talking about that like a year ago when you started trying to track that down. And now it occurs to me, one of my friends brothers works for gehry

Does anyone know if any of the cancelled projects have ever been talked about as being resurected?  It would be nice to have a few more major buildings in the downtown skyline gaps.

MayDay, do you know when that Masonic Memorial Building was proposed to be built?  I've never seen that before; that would've been nice to have another older prominent skyscraper in the skyline.

Hey, that Masonic Memorial building cancellation explains the setback on the Masonic Auditorium!

The Progressive Tower was a really cool looking structure.  I like the contrasting materials and the oddly angled atriums at the top of the building.  I didn't like the site they chose, though.  I think a tower would look really odd there.  I would have been happy if they had built this somewhere else downtown, though.

The Masonic Building would have been a beauty. The Progressive Tower makes me think of Louisville, ugh. How can anyone doubt a higher power when stuff like that and FSW both are left unbuilt?

Easily - the Progressive Tower wasn't built because of a decision made by the board of directors at Progressive.

The Masonic Temple was finished in 1920 so my guess would be in the 1920s, but like so many proposals, vanished due to the Depression.

About the only project that could happen would be District Park, although it might be reconfigured from the original design.

I do like the Progressive tower. But, the newspaper thing at the top is kind of stupid, imo.

You've taken me too literally. Haven't you ever heard people say there is a God when something good happens, even if they are atheists (sp?). Its an expression.

^I think you posted what you did because, coming from me, it would be easily to take me literally (and believe I actually believed it) and you (at the other end of the spectrum) wanted to make sure not to have any religious connections. Thus I needed to clarify that I was just using the expression, which in turn made you look bad, triggering you to reply as if I was clueless, protect your image, just like I was protecting mine. Oh, the code of the forum...

when do you buy me one?

Hell, can I have a house?

damn, i should have asked for something bigger.

Sorry guys - no luck on the lottery, but the Z6 arrived today. I think I'm going to have fun with the 12x optical zoom (with image stabilization - my old camera was 4x). Unfortunately the weather isn't the best for taking pics, but you get the idea.

No zoom:

Gooooo 12x! :-)

Could you translate 12x zoom into SLR lense speak, please?  :?

I looked it up and the longest focal length on that camera is equivalent to 420mm.  I don't speak this "zoom" language very well either.  (Except that I know my camera is 10x, so I can think of approximate comparisons.)

Yep, it's the equivalent of 420mm.

:-o

is it a telescope? i thought my 200mm was ridiculous, a 420 is nearly ludicrousness

Please be careful with that mayday, you could easily hurt some one with 12X.

Not necessarily.  My dad has a 400mm lense for his camera.  I have a 300mm zoom and a 800mm lense (mirror lense, no appature) for my camera.

JESUS!!!

Are you sure you don't have to register that zoom with Homeland Security? :|

Not yet.

That smokestack (leftover from an abandoned sugarmill) is about 6 miles west, as the crow flies, from the Louisiana capital.

But with no appature, I have to be super steady and low lighting makes it almost worthless.

I haven't used it as much as I thought I would.  :|

The camera I have has Minolta's Anti-Shake (image stabilization) technology, so the distance shots aren't quite as problematic. I haven't had time to try different lighting yet.

I'm pretty sure my Minolta x-370 is older than Inkaelin, thus I don't have image stabilization technology...outside of using a uni or tripod. :-)

I'm not the youngest forumer on here you know!

mayday nice unbuilt section. can you imagine if we had ameritrust and progressive? awwww well....at least its good we didnt get the last three, the e9th/euc, north point and ohio wtc towers --- those are hideous.

when you get a chance could you add ameritrust and also at approximate/circa dates to all the unbuilt towers if you know?

I wouldn't mind the North Point Tower being built, esp. as what we did get isn't all that great- not to mention incredibly suburban.  And unfortunately the Ohio WTC Tower site is a parking lot.  So no win there, either.  Unless Pesht actually happens.

I would love to add Ameritrust, however - the folks at KPF haven't answered my email requests (over several years) for permission to post renderings.

Wait, someone who actually asks for permission? on the internet?
