Posted January 9, 201312 yr The other day some friends and I were out looking for abandoned things on a road trip. We came across what appeared to be abandoned Interurban rail cars presumably from Cleveland, but I can't seem to find any information on them: There was a rail museum nearby (I assume they own the cars), but they were closed and I can't make sense of the info on their website (http://www.trainweb.org/norm/). I don't think they have these abandoned ones listed. Anyone know their history? I was hoping to write a little article about them for my website. Any help would be appreciated!
January 9, 201312 yr nice photo and very pretty sight and setting, although of course its quite elegiac. hmm, could these have been from the cleveland-youngstown commuter rail service? calling kjp!

Thanks! I have no idea at all since I'm not from that area, but does anyone know what track that is? Maybe that could be a clue?
January 10, 201312 yr Thanks! I have no idea at all since I'm not from that area, but does anyone know what track that is? Maybe that could be a clue? This train was probably moved to here, so knowing the line won't be too much help. CSX CL&W subdivision. (I think previously part of the B&O line from Cleveland and Lorain to Wheeling.)
January 10, 201312 yr Looking on the pictures on the museum's site, my guess is that it is this: http://www.trainweb.org/norm/roster/NOTL_1519.htm Or at least that is the closest match I could find.

Those are definitely interurbans, and appear to be from Kuhlman Car Co. that was in Collinwood (building still stands on East 140th). NORM still is in existence, but I do not know its current status. One of NORM's members will be at a meeting I'm hosting on Saturday (the All Aboard Ohio Cleveland local meeting at the 10th floor of the City Club, 850 Euclid!). I will ask him. January 11, 201312 yr Very cool, too bad they're in such bad shape. G.C. Kuhlman is my great great grandfather, so I've always had a particular interest in these cars.

My guess is you were in the area looking for that old amusement park. Is it still standing? I heard it has been torn down.

That makes you a bit of a rock star in the rail transit world! "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

January 12, 201312 yr KJP, if you wouldn't mind asking, I'd greatly appreciate it! The other day some friends and I were out looking for abandoned things on a road trip. Took us awhile to find a way in, but we eventually did find it: And here's another photo of the rail cars:

January 13, 201312 yr As a member of the Board of Directors of the Northern Ohio Railway Museum, I would like to comment on Gordon Bombay's post. The cars south of Buffham Rd. are CH&D 101 and NOT&L 1510. The 4-wheeled frame is from a McGuire-Cummings snow sweeper. The snow sweeper frame now belongs to another museum. The sister cars, NOT&L 1519 and CH&D 105 are under roof in one of our barns. We will be open again to the public from May to October on Saturdays from 10:00AM to 4:00PM. Follow us on our Youtube channel and Facebook. These will give you a better look at our progress.

I hope to make another trip up there when the museum reopens, seems like a great place. Just for clarification, did you mean the sister cars of the snow pusher frame or the sister cars of the two complete cars on the side are in the barn?
