Posted January 14, 201312 yr A Texas firm wants to ship it's fracking wastewater on barges over 1,100 miles to SE Ohio for dumping. The Coast Guard has put the transportation on hold while it studies the idea. I can't believe this makes economic sense or that there's no place for the stuff in Texas. http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2013/01/14/barges-of-brine-on-ohio-river.html
January 14, 201312 yr ^The company is based in Texas but the brine is to come from Pennsylvania. There probably are places to dispose of it in Texas, but it will cost much more to transport it that far.
January 15, 201312 yr That would make more sense but it's not clearly stated in the article. I'm still not happy about accepting toxic waste. That's what Texas is for. :-)

January 16, 201312 yr ^Anyone who pays for petroleum or natural gas products is part of this profit system.
