There's a bright note in Northeast Ohio's economy. New claims for unemployment, considered one of the most sensitive measures of the employment market's health, finally returned to their 1999 levels in six of seven counties in the Cleveland-Akron-Lorain-Elyria area. (Medina's new claims were still slightly higher than in '99.)..

Let's hope...all the best to the Cleveland economy...

Too bad I keep hearing national recession in '07. Cleveland will probably just snap out of it and another will hit.

Uh, thanks for the sunny outlook. Very helpful.

I wouldn't read to much into any talk about a recession. At any given time there are people who think the economy is going down the tubes, and then there are people who think the economy is doing just fine.

^Amen to that.  The ability of economic forecasters to accurately predict *this* year's GDP growth is pretty miserable, let alone knowing what will happen a year or two out.  This is especially true when they try to predict inflection points - when growth begins to slow or pick up markedly.
