Posted February 13, 201312 yr Can we get an ignore function? I really like this forum but would like it much better if I could filter out a few posters that I have no need to read again ever. It's so much easier to visit and participate in forums when you can filter out some of the irritating noise.
February 13, 201312 yr I don't think that's a good idea. The purpose of a forum is to read and hear about differing opinions and thoughts, not to silence them out and engage in group think. Just because you may disagree with another individual, doesn't mean that it would be advisable to plug your ears from here-on-out. It ruins the sake of discussion and breaks the chain of replies. Soon after you ignore 327, the poster you intend to ignore, you'll be complaining about reading bits and pieces of a thread that are disconnected or missing context because you've left out a poster's comments.
February 13, 201312 yr While I agree with Sherman, there is an ignore function already. To access it: -Click "Profile", at the top of the page, just below the "Urbanohio" logo -At the top of the "Profile card", roll the cursor over "Modify Profile", bringing down a context menu -Roll the cursor over "Buddies/Ignore List" and click on "Edit Ignore List" -Type the name of the poster you wish to Ignore, and hit "Enter"
February 13, 201312 yr Yes, there is already an ignore feature, but it's of limited use as you still see everyone else reply to the person you're ignoring. From my experience, the people that are most annoying often go away after a while anyway. (Sometimes with a little help from an admin.)
February 13, 201312 yr Thanks for showing me where it is, I could not find it. "It ruins the sake of discussion and breaks the chain of replies. Soon after you ignore 327, the poster you intend to ignore, you'll be complaining about reading bits and pieces of a thread that are disconnected or missing context because you've left out a poster's comments." You do what you want, I prefer the option. This is hardly the first forum I have been on in the past 15 + years on the Internets, it's just the first forum I had a hard time finding the ignore feature. It's a valuable tool for those of us that are inclined to use it.
