As a Cuyahoga County resident, I am a part owner of the downtown Cleveland Hilton.  In the interest of checking up on my investment, and because I had a free night certificate that was about to expire

Is the steel canopy around the podium in its finished form along Ontario or will it be covered ? Appears an odd  detail in its current state

Looks fairly complete. What looks odd?

^ The podium canopy on all sides (not just Ontario) looks unfinished to me based on the renderings. There should be a structure covering the frame that's already installed. I doubt they can finish it until the Lakeside facade is complete which still has the construction elevators attached.

The scale is diminutive compared to the rest of he podium details

It's just glass on top. I don't think it's installed on the steel yet. It's not really going to look much different though.

The canopy looks small? It's way too big IMO.

To each their own opinion.  My question/comment was if anyone had insight if it was in it's finished state.

I think yanni_gogluck misunderstood (or maybe I do). I think Dave is referring to the "cornice" that goes around the top of the podium - not the glass canopy that juts out on the Lakeside Ave. side. I agree that the cornice looks like it's been size down, and I would assume it is not yet complete. They will probably add some kind of structure to cover the frame.

Does anyone know what floor and where the penthouse is going to be in the hotel? The Oct. construction states that there will be a penthouse.

Hi folks. Can you please try and get the word out about submitting their photos of themselves, family and friends in front of their favorite places in NE Ohio. The hotel is still 1500 pics short for the mural, which means it will only be half the size intended. Your help by reaching out to your area contacts is greatly appreciated. They simply can submit them to #myclephoto via Twitter, Instagram or FB. THANKS!!

They are taking down the crane.

They are taking down the crane.

I wish I could see how the hell they're doing it... Modern construction techniques baffle me.

The same way they raise it but backwards. Which baffles me too haha. They take it down in small sections.

Lots and lots of hydraulics and a smaller crane is brought in to construct/deconstruct the components of the tower crane. In some cases, the smaller crane is hoisted to the roof of the building.

Going to miss seeing this in the skyline, hopefully we get a few more to take its place.

Wouldn't it suck if they took the entire crane down, and realized they still had one more lift to do!  That is totally something that I would do.  Just ask my wife.

LOL! Hopefully they had extras unlike Atlanta’s 2008 tornado.

It is hard to see how many windows are damaged as well as the glass curtain wall system. Hope not to much was damaged.

I found this video on youtube by Cool Cleveland

The bedroom interiors are awful! You would think the interior designers for Hilton would do better than that. :|

Is it supposed to be 80s themed?

I like the rooms, a little less enthusiastic for the lobby

Agreed about the rooms. They aren't bad at all. They are minimalist and modern. Nothing 80's about them.

I'm not seeing 80's...pretty standard tasteful room with a touch of mid-century (which is on trend) with the chairs. I'm not mad at it.

Drone?

Whatever it is, any chance there's a larger version? Love that angle!

It is a drone. Yes, there is a larger pic. DM your email. I'll send it.

Im kinda disappointed that there have been so few pictures posted of the near finished product.  Where's is the guy form 1 Cleveland Center and the other from the Justice Center?  Or views of the skyline?  Anyone have anything?

From today

Edit: I'll have to upload them tomorrow or Sunday. It's not working through my phone. I was at the project today and took pics, mostly of views from the 32nd floor; not so much of the building itself.

I know it's the same old view, but here's a cropped shot from the Turner construction webcam as of 9:00am this morning

Yes, please post! :)

When I saw the renderings, I thought it looked like a Jawa sandcrawler from the planet Tatooine. I still think so now that it's almost done.

i found these additional renderings of restaurant spaces/lounge areas on Downtown Cleveland Hilton's Facebook page.  Also stated on their page is the name of th bar on the 32nd floor will be called  "Bar 32".  IMHO not the most creative name.

^This feels like retro-50s style.  It looks similar to interiors of the Westin and The 9.

Took this pic as I was out enjoying this beautiful 70 degree December weather!

At least it draws the eye away from the Justice Center.  :ugh:

Nice shot.  At a quick glance, it looks like the statute is trying to climb the side of the building..... but he doesn't have those suction devices the burglar used in that Superman movie.

that is a really interesting angle to see it. its...jaunty, even. and i like how the middle widens out a bit toward the top. they did good.

That's a handsome building. Elegant and understated.

Is that bar going to overlook Cleveland Browns Stadium?

I love driving in to work at the crack of dawn and exiting at E. 9th street. From that vantage point you can enjoy how the new Hilton reflects the infinite variations in the color of the early morning light. I think this is a truly beautiful building--more like a monumental sculpture.

From Monday.

Wow.  MayDay.  This is truly amazing.  thank you!

I don't see it mentioned anywhere recently, so I will share this - during a hard hat tour of the building about a month ago, it was mentioned the severe diagonal cut and curve outwards on the East side of the building mirrors the mall plan below to the East.  Once I saw the connection, my admiration for this building went above and beyond.
