June 30, 20168 yr Bar 32 at Hilton Cleveland Downtown opens Friday with stellar views (photos) By John Petkovic, The Plain Dealer Email the author | Follow on Twitter on June 30, 2016 at 9:26 AM, updated June 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The views stir the drink and the bar is ready. Bar 32, located on the 32nd floor of the Hilton Downtown Cleveland, will make its debut on Friday. Sitting at the top of the 374-foot high hotel, the sleek spot offers spectacular views of city skyline, Lake Erie, the Cuyahoga River and Lakewood in the distance. "We asked a number of people what they would like to see most here," says Carolyn Deming, director of public relations at the property. "Overwhelmingly, the wanted a view of the lake and the city." Bar 32 provides both – and fills a void in the process. While downtown Cleveland has enjoyed explosive growth in bars and restaurants, there is a dearth of high-placed spots in the city's skyscrapers. From this vantage point, you can see the seats of the northern end of First Energy., not to mention the Great Lakes Science Center, the rock hall and the Cleveland Steamship William F. Mather. http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2016/06/bar_32_at_hilton_cleveland_dow_1.html#incart_gallery
June 30, 20168 yr Isn't it nice to see an out of town firm do their best work in Cleveland? ... Great Job to all involved! I agree. Their stuff in the Wash DC area is pretty ho-hum. I was afraid Cleveland would get the same - and the first iteration of the Hilton design started out that way. Remember: It's the Year of the Snake
October 3, 20177 yr Walkway to Garage Delayed. http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2017/10/underground_walkway_to_hilton_cleveland_downtown_hotel_to_open_in_january.html
October 3, 20177 yr ^Being forced to shell out $36/day for valet parking (aside from tips) instead of a $10 max fee day rate for the garage -- on top of an already steep Hilton room rate + a guzzilion taxes and fees... Yeah, I'd be pissed, too.
February 27, 20187 yr Cuyahoga County's Hilton Cleveland Downtown Hotel exceeding expectations http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2018/02/cuyahoga_countys_hilton_cleveland_downtown_hotel_exceeding_expectations.html "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
February 28, 20187 yr from the article cited above: "The county hired Massachusetts-based CHMWarnick to manage the assets of the hotel. The hotel's operating fund paid for the three-year, $675,000 contract with the company. The company oversees property management and financial performance.......... According to information from Hilton in 2014, the initial fee for a new Hilton hotel was $75,000, plus $400 for each additional guest room or suite over 250. Monthly payments include a royalty fee of 5 percent and program fee of 4 percent, both from monthly gross rooms revenue, the Hilton information said. A monthly fee is 3 percent of food and beverage revenue." How does this work? The County owns the hotel, hires a management company (for only $200k a year?) which sets the prices and other details and Hilton just operates it? Or does it Hilton run it as a business and takes a cut? what does the 'management company' do? Just trying to figure out who does what, including the owner.

October 17, 20204 yr As a Cuyahoga County resident, I am a part owner of the downtown Cleveland Hilton. In the interest of checking up on my investment, and because I had a free night certificate that was about to expire, I took my kids and we stayed there last November. (Which also gave my wife a well deserved night off from all of us.) Since I've finally uploaded my photos to the internets, I thought I'd share a digital tour, including a bunch of pictures of the views from inside the facility. Enjoy! The thing that I really like about this collage is that when you get up close it is all pictures by and of Clevelanders. The carpets in the elevator waiting areas feature maps of Cleveland. Heart emoji: The open-to-the-public bar up top has nice views: Of course I didn't think to take a picture of our room, but I assure you that it was quite nice. Now, for the views. The first set are from our room. There was a Browns game that Sunday. The kids were confident that the windows were properly installed: Views from other parts of the hotel. Here are some that will change a bunch in the next few years: When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
February 20, 20214 yr Allard did another hit piece on the downtown Hilton. As a Cuyahoga county taxpayer I’m an investor in this property, so I’m glad to see the county put out a fact sheet to set the record straight. https://cuyahogacounty.us/blogs/blog-detail/cuyahoga-county-news-now/2021/02/19/cuyahoga-county-fact-check---hilton-cleveland-downtown When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
