Walked down to Icefest at the Rock Hall with the family and took these shots. First time I've seen the Hilton lit up like this:

I don't see photos

As a Cuyahoga County resident, I am a part owner of the downtown Cleveland Hilton.  In the interest of checking up on my investment, and because I had a free night certificate that was about to expire

I don't see the photos, either, but the slant on the building is now lit at night. I saw it walking home last week or two weeks ago. It looks really good.

I'm not sure about that slant, but I'm sure it would look better with a color. Is it LED equipped?

This has to be one of nicest looking convention center hotels in the country!

So far the issue besides color is the strip is a bit too bright and bold.  Perhaps it will be muted somewhat but I wonder as well if there will be color added with a variety of options like the Terminal Tower.

When I see that strip I think of the Seinfeld episode with the Kenny Rogers chicken sign outside Kramer's window.

Definitely one of them, and could be better if they flipped it allowing the podium structure to honor the Mall's cornice line.

I give you Ft. Worth (perhaps the standard bearer):

Thanks to Paul in Cleveland and Musky for awesome shots of the Hilton. Flew into Hopkins the other night - had a great view going

right over downtown and the light strip on the Hilton really stood out - next to the Key, Terminal and "BP" Tower (and RR Hall of Fame)  it was the most striking

feature from above.  I think it will become an immediate signature of Cleveland's skyline at night. Made me wish that the Erieview Tower could be lit on top  - I think that would really expand the perceived size of downtown at night for the national TV audience watching Cavs games and other big events.

They should scale it back by one seat.

I like it a lot

Very exciting, indeed.

Looks great.

Hmm the way the letters are positioned on the building I wonder if the 'H' symbol which usually ia above or to the left of the word is still to come. Hope so I don't like it by itself.

I wish they would have rethought the "Hilton" sign attached to the West Mall facade.  Imho,  it detracts from the rest of The Group Plan buildings and unnecessary identifying what this structure is.

That looks fine to me.  It's muted for a hotel sign, classy even.

I guess I'll break my six months silence here.

I think they are starting on the sign above the SkyBar as pictured in this rendering:

Welcome Pleco. Glad you broke your silence!

Where were your objections to the garish address sign on the building demo'd for the Medical Mart?  Perhaps you don't recall that since the Hilton sign is much more muted than the loud-red numbers announcing that building's address.

Of course Hilton is going to want its name on the sides of the building.  It's called advertisement.  This signage is not bad at all and works well with the Group Plan.

It's call IMHO.    And the topic is only with regards to The Cleveland Downtown Hilton .

It appears they are going into overdrive getting the north patio completed. It looked like a hopeless pit a little while ago. Great to see it taking shape.

Hoping that fencing will be coming down soon!

Updated logos and descriptions/hours for hotel dining.  Looking good!

Construction fencing is down. Sidewalks are being put back in and landscaping has begun.

LOL on calling Ness a "Prohibitionist".  While enforcement of the law was a job he did well, his post-1933 life shows he didn't personally support it.  GLBC's commemoration is a bit more apropos.

These amenities sound very nice about how about non-food related shops?  I really miss that in Cleveland - big city hotels with high quality shops off their lobbies - open to the general public.

^for instance?

The finished building has a terrific presence on Lakeside, looks great in person.

The signage has been put up on the north side of the tower

As badly/slowly as the Federal Building renovation has gone, this is a government-run/financed project that was well-managed. It's on-time and under budget...

Inside the new hotel that changed Cleveland's skyline

May 20, 2016 UPDATED 2 DAYS AGO

By STAN BULLARD

After two years of watching construction crews thrust steel, buckets of concrete and walls of windows skyward to put the 32-floor Hilton Cleveland Downtown in its place on the city’s skyline, walking inside would seem almost anticlimactic.

After all, new restaurants, hotel rooms and banquet spaces Cleveland’s seen before aplenty, especially the last two years.

But the largest hotel in the city with 600 rooms and service areas to support them brings a new scale to town, especially combined with the magic of design and a $272 million budget. After all, that’s where the heads will go into beds in the quest by Cuyahoga County and City of Cleveland leaders to give the city a convention business of scale with a county-funded hotel.

All the news has been focused on the RNC, and rightfully so. I wonder how efforts to attract other large conventions that Cleveland hasn't been able to capture in decades is going?

Love the modern blue-glass look of the Hilton in the skyline and the overall design - love the views of the city from the hotel -

love the attention to detail inside (e..g. moss wall...references to Cleveland bridges and history, etc. and Bar32 will rock)

love that it's on-time and under-budget - all in all, a great accomplishment for the city.  The article says

they are already booking lots of business post-RNC that wouldn't have come to the city previously

- yes, it will be cool to hear more news about forthcoming big conventions.  BTW, there was a view of

the city from the lakeside on one of the Cavs games the other night where the light strip and the hotel was now part

of the cityscape - looked very good.

I notice neither the PD nor Crain's photo essay of the Hilton have any pics of Bar 32 from the 32nd floor with it's dramatic views.  Is it still to unfinished to allow photos?

It is opening in July, a bit after the hotel. There was a slideshow posted a ways up thread showing hotel progress and there were some pictures.

And we have a full house!

Woa!!

Wow, I am having trouble linking it but should you look at the most recent update for the hotel the pictures are astonishing. The shot of the main lobby is strikingly similar to the rendering and I think it looks really nice. I also really like the shot of the tower surrounded by greenery and behind the glow of the convention center. Anyways, really excited for the opening in 12 1/2 hours.

I have a complaint. The view looking east from the upper floors of the justice center was always enjoyable. But now when you look out those windows in the afternoon or early evening, you see the justice center staring right back at you.

I went to check out the Hilton last night and I was very impressed with it all. My favorite part was that as I approached the hotel from Mall B, there were people standing on the patio of the Burnham restaurant, which faces the Mall. It's great to finally have an establishment adjacent to the Mall that will bring activity all hours of the day. Here are some pictures:

I took a ton of pictures on the opening day so if i get some time I will post.  The hotel is huge and I was very impressed.  All of the staff seemed super excited to be there and very helpful.  The sky bar or as it is now called "Bar32" is going to VERY popular and the space is stunning.  Cant wait to see the hotel full and busy!

Great photos, MayDay! Isn't it nice to see an out of town firm do their best work in Cleveland? I think this is an awesome addition to the skyline and one of the best overall architectural solutions in Cooper Carry's portfolio.

Great Job to all involved!

Niiiiiiiiiiice.
