Posted February 4, 200619 yr I grew tired of waiting for a sunny day... uhhhh.... more cincy steps.. some history has been intentionally hidden these windows should "Keep 'em out" of "The Cinti. Fly Screen Co." ! notice the small tag HIDDEN HISTORY! not even sure this goes to Cleves any more can any train buffs tell me what this means? today's pano.. (I half way expected the batmobile to come flyin' out of here)
February 5, 200619 yr excellent eye. these shots are what its all about. looks like a cross between batman & wolfen. yep those clever realtors never cease to amaze me with their genius monikers, i can clearly see why the prices are lower around there.
February 5, 200619 yr Whoa. Those photos were so depressing (adding to it nicely was the rain/snow). But I like those pictures very much; they were beautiful in their own sort of way. Nicely done :-)
February 5, 200619 yr I think your timing was perfect; the weather adds to the atmosphere of those photos, and they're better than they would have been on a sunny, blue-sky day. Strong images. By the way, I'm not very familiar with Cincinnati except from pictures and don't know the context of that structure, but the acronym, "CUT" is often used to refer to Cincinnati Union Terminal.
February 5, 200619 yr Great photos! Those under-viaduct shots really contribute to that gritty feeling.
February 5, 200619 yr Those are some great shots. I really like the 4th one. I am a sucker for those overpass shots. If Cincinnati still has a film commission, they should add those shots to the portfolio. We could become the capitol of "post apocalypse" movies.
February 5, 200619 yr Great shots! I pass by this area a lot on my way to Delhi. It always intrigues me, it is such an interesting area. I love the old buildings along 50 and into lower Delhi as well. The old churches are very cool. I see a lot of potential.
February 5, 200619 yr I'm not proud to say it, but I used to live in lower price hill. Nice pictures.
February 6, 200619 yr Some good pics.....however you didn't really get into the heart of the neighborhood it seems. There are a couple of great, old churches/schools in the neighborhood. Not to mention all of the destruction that is occuring all over the neighborhood (very similar to OTR). :|
February 6, 200619 yr HOLY .... "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
February 6, 200619 yr Are those freeway overpasses? What a travesty. Some nice-looking buildings though.
February 6, 200619 yr Very interesting stuff! I need to get over there and get some shots one of these days....
February 7, 200619 yr Where is that flood marker at? Do you remember the street/cross street? I don't know enough to recognize the roads, and would love to check that out...great tour!
February 7, 200619 yr If Cincinnati still has a film commission, they should add those shots to the portfolio. We could become the capitol of "post apocalypse" movies. St. Louis & Detroit have that crown. Their abandonment makes Cincinnati look like Orlando.
February 8, 200619 yr I LOVE that last shot Montecarloss, very clean. The color and that laundry! Riverviewer, that 'flood marker' tag is on a train overpass support found very near where a little street called McLean crosses 8th. It is in Mapquest. There is some sort of LaRosa's building there, not a restaurant, maybe where they make the dough or something.. not sure. I think you will see it from the east bound lane of 8th St. on the left. It just caught my eye. I still wonder why they bothered to tack it there. You are 8 blocks from the river there and the tag is still head-high. And "Nati" you are right, I guess most of those pix were in Queensgate (?) between State Ave. and Dalton. I'm also thinking that the building that is being razed is the Queensgate Barrell Company that burned last year. (I think that was the name.) I really don't know where I am when I'm over there...
February 17, 200619 yr I used to live in Sedamsville, i forgot who it was on community council my aunt knew, that said Paradise Cafe was the inspiration for the one in "Happy Days". Even modeled after it...before things got rearranged inside. Apparently the writer of the show went in there all the time or something. Paradise Cafe is in a pretty depressing state right now :( The west end bank is the epitome of juxtaposition lol. I love that building. I'd like to see the rest of the neighborhood look like that.
February 17, 200619 yr Rob is right about "CUT": it stands for Cincinnati Union Terminal. I am not familiar with that particular sign but it matches the style of other infrastructure related to the CUT and probably directs train engineers to the right track in an area that is congested with confusing trackwork.

I remember going to the Paradise all the time when living in LPH.
