We use something called key captcha. I too have noticed more bots lately, so maybe we can implement another spam fighting tool.

Who's a bot? It's MTS, isn't it? Constant, repetitive postings of Meryl Streep. Oh, why didn't I see it earlier?

Can you delete a user and all their posts go bye bye?  I saw a bot last night, it had five posts all easily traced.

I signed up somewhere you had to slide a bar over(Like on an iphone lock screen) to prove that you were human. That might be helpful.

I use an SMF plugin on my own board called "Stop Forum Spam."  The plugin communicates with a distributed database of spammers, indexed by email address, board handle and IP address. I won't say that it catches 100% of the spammers out there but it's almost completely effective in terms of shutting down bad registrations in my community. I'll look at the registration log and it has many entries that look like "asoaslk is a spam". I really recommend trying it if you aren't using it.

We used to use the same one but haven't since the great crash. Maybe it's an option.

Users with fewer than 4 posts will not be able to post external links.  This alone should fix our little bot issue.

Yeah, I just meant that, after so many posts by a user, you could allow those words to be posted. Not that I really care; it's funny to see the effects of the filtering on occasion.
