I think if we compiled a list of celebrities that are from/of the CIN-DAY area, it would be much more extensive than most would think. I think Cin-Day/Daytonati has been home to more celebrities than you'd think

Sarah Jessica Parker, Carmen Electra. Some of the biggest crank skanks in Hollywood! Then there's Jerry Springer--self explanitory. Larry Flynt--self explanatory. We are one conservative region :drunk:

Jerry Springer's from New York City. Larry Flynt is from Pikeville, KY.

Ugh.

Jerry Springer's from New York City. Larry Flynt is from Pikeville, KY.

Jerry Springer is not from new york city...  If your trying to be technical he wouldn't be from the united states. Almost everything he has done has revolved around Cincinnati.

As for Larry Flynt, He might be from kentucky but he got his start right here in Cincinnat, Home to the first Hustler Club. His brother Jimmy lives in the Cincinnati metro area.

I don't know if this goes here or I should start another topic. Mods, let me know. But here is a quick list of those celebs that are affiliated with the Daytonati Region. Cincy folks. . .I need your help to get more of your locals on here. I was more familiar with Dayton. But, it's a pretty good list. I didn't include athletes or it would have taken forever.

^ That's awesome! Even though I'm not a fan of this band, it will showcase the city over and over and over and over on national television stations that young eyes will see.

What is the other music video that was shot in Cincinnati?  They mentioned it in the News Cast.

It was a Kenny Chesney video... I forget what it was called, but I remember seeing stuff about it on the news.

*Ahem*

^ Showtime's the shiznit.

I've seen that video before, was it shown on MTV or BET? I swear it looks like it was shot in Brooklyn. Hi-Tek was the best thing to happen to Cincy in the hip-hop scene.

No, it wasn't on MTV but it's been on BET for a little bit.

What about Scribble Jam?

Hi-Tek is awesome...his videos leave something to be desired though.

^ Whatever do you mean? That video was very innovative and full of new ideas.

Okay, here's a blast from the past.  I did a search and this movie doesn't seem to have been mentioned on here yet.

AIRBORNE!!!

Circa 1993, it's got Seth Green and Jack Black in it (among others)

It was filmed entirely in the Cincinnati area (although it's mostly the Kentucky side.)  But in the last scene, they skate down "Devil's Backbone."  I've been watching it trying to figure out the route they take, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't make sense because they'd have to skate from Kentucky across the river through Mt Auburn (I think?), through OTR, then up Mt. Adams and then back to the Riverfront Stadium.  I beg any pro athlete to try that.

Here's the skate scene (ignore the music) and note that there are parts edited out.  If you want the full scene you have to watch parts 9 & 10 below:

And here's the whole movie in 10 parts (no I didn't put it on YouTube, so don't come suing me if you're a hollywood exec.):

I think this was mentioned, but I remember this one.  The final race make no sense - I think the name comes from a road on the west side.  I actually lived 2 minutes from Krohn conservatory where a scene was filmed.  Also, nice shots around Longworth Hall and the bridges by it.

Honest to God, a middle/high school drama teacher at my school tried to get me the job of being a stand in for Seth Green for this movie.  But it went to a kid who was slightly taller.  Probably a good thing, since I would have had to dye my hair red.  There were also a couple of other kids from my school who were in that movie as extras, one of whom I believe is Jim Tarbell's daughter.

Yeah Devils backbone is in Delhi or Green Township. I don't know, the west side all looks the same to me.

You and your d@mn hairpins!

That creek is disgusting.

^Ha, Don't Hate!!

The beginning of the race starts on the top of Springdale Rd. (in Colrain Twp.) near the convergence of I-74 and I-275. (Which is clearly visible.)

When you're young this movie seems awesome but I've seen several movies from my childhood lately like this one, Milk Money, and A Rage in Harlem and I realize that these movies are all pretty sub par.  But I still love the love.

>realize that these movies are all pretty sub par.

Yeah I watched Return of the Jedi recently for the first time since about 1983 when I saw it at Covedale Cinemas in Price Hill...it sucked!  Something dramatic happens...human goes "YA-HA!" then quick cut to alien sidekick who makes some happy queek noise.  Over and over again.  Lucas took that formula to the bank.  The dialogue is terrible, the premise is ridiculous, the sword fights weak.  The only part of the movie I found compelling was when they cut to the drunk Ewok up in the tree who blows through that sea shell...Baudrillard would have loved that!

I used to bike up and down that Springdale Rd. hill fairly often as a kid which was about a 12% grade...everyone and their grandma's pet psychic was in that Airborne movie, just last week a deckhand at B&B Riverboats was telling me how he was in it.

Michael Douglas plays a secret service agent in 2006's The Sentinel.  The first lady's codename is "Cincinnati."

I've already reported this one! lol ...

The first 2 minutes or so of Part 9 was filmed on KY 20 near CVG as it descends toward KY 20 and the Ohio River.  You can clearly see the KY 20 and KY 8 signs in the action.  Also, the house with the old people still exists.

And is it me or is the Taylor Southgate Bridge missing?

It did say something about it not being able to be embedded...I thought I would try anyways.  Just search it I guess...this is what I did:

"3 Doors Down" + "It's not my time"

It should pop right up on YouTube with that.

^found it.  v=aHU9dN0Itrk

Damn, this is sweet! Notice the hometown pride coming out in those comments ... it's crazy how stuff like this draws civic pride.

Good grief that band it bleaping terrible.

I had to crank this to flush that band out of my memory.

^ What the hell was that?

The opening ceremonies to the Special Olympics?

^Actually a little thing folks used to call "Rock & Roll".

I am not a big fan of 3 Doors Down, but that is not a bad video.  I think we can thank Lightborne Studios for the free pub by the way.  They have done videos for Heartless Bastards and the Greenhornes as well as Death Cab for Cutie.  I cannot say for sure, but the video for Summer Skin looks like it was filmed in OTR.

Armed Invasion To Take Over Fountain Square

Film Shoot To Shut Down Square, Vine Street

POSTED: 11:06 pm EDT July 28, 2008, UPDATED: 11:16 pm EDT July 28, 2008

CINCINNATI -- An armed invasion will take over Fountain Square on Wednesday evening. But people shouldn’t be alarmed; it’s all just an act. Actors, extras and members of the film crew for the television pilot show “Jaded,” will film the scene from 6 to 11 p.m. The director told News 5 that the show could hit the airwaves this fall.

foxalphafilms.com is involved. That would explain that mystery banner on fourth street, right?

I might be tempted if I can get out work on time. It might rain too.

TV pilot films on Square tonight

http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080730/ENT/307300040/-1/NEWS0107

Fountain Square will be the setting tonight for an action sequence in a television pilot.

Foxalpha Films/J9DED Pictures will film a military flashback scene for a TV pilot called "J8ded," said Michael Daemon, the producer and director. The $10 million production will be pitched to a major network this fall.

Daemon declined to name the network but said the show, a combination drama and comedy, will follow two alternative band members after they get kicked out of England and relocate to Cincinnati to try to make it as a duo.
