January 8, 200817 yr I think if we compiled a list of celebrities that are from/of the CIN-DAY area, it would be much more extensive than most would think. I think Cin-Day/Daytonati has been home to more celebrities than you'd think
January 8, 200817 yr Sarah Jessica Parker, Carmen Electra. Some of the biggest crank skanks in Hollywood! Then there's Jerry Springer--self explanitory. Larry Flynt--self explanatory. We are one conservative region :drunk:
January 8, 200817 yr Jerry Springer's from New York City. Larry Flynt is from Pikeville, KY. Jerry Springer is not from new york city... If your trying to be technical he wouldn't be from the united states. Almost everything he has done has revolved around Cincinnati. As for Larry Flynt, He might be from kentucky but he got his start right here in Cincinnat, Home to the first Hustler Club. His brother Jimmy lives in the Cincinnati metro area.
January 8, 200817 yr I don't know if this goes here or I should start another topic. Mods, let me know. But here is a quick list of those celebs that are affiliated with the Daytonati Region. Cincy folks. . .I need your help to get more of your locals on here. I was more familiar with Dayton. But, it's a pretty good list. I didn't include athletes or it would have taken forever. Dave Chapelle (Day/Yellow Springs John Lithgow (Day/Yellow Springs Justin Chambers--Dr. Alex Karev on Grey's Anatomy (Day/springfield) John Legend (Day/Springfield) Allison Janey (Day) Martin Sheen (Day Rob Lowe (Day) Chad Lowe (Day) Nancy Cartwright--voice of Bart Simpson (Day) Woody Harrelson (Cin-Day) Carmen Electra (Cin) Nick Lachey (Cin) Drew Lachey (Cin) Jerry Springer (Cin) Larry Flynt (Cin) Blessed Union of Souls (Cin) The Breeders (Day) Guided by Voices (Day) Phil Donahue (Day) Dorain Harewood (roots, full metal jacket) (Day) Ken Jenkins--Dr. Kelso on Scrubs (Day) Jackie Warner--star of Bravo's Workout (Day) Rob Dyrdek --Mtv's Rob and Big (Day) Gordon Jump--wkrp in cincy (Day) Gary Sandy--wkrp in cincy (Day) Sherri Saum--rescue me (Day) Jonathan Winters (Day) Kirk Herbstreit--Espn Newscaster (Day) Dan Patrick--Espn Newscaster (Cin-Day) Erma Bombeck (Day) Mike Peters (Day) Rick Derringer--hang on sloppy and rock and rool hoochie coo (Day) Tommy James--mony mony (Day) Hawthorne Heights (Day) Ohio Players (Day) Jiminy Glick-HA! January 8, 200817 yr ^ Steven Spielberg Patch from days of our lives. I forget his full name. www.imdb.com lists over 1000 from Cincinnati alone.
January 8, 200817 yr Ted Turner Roy Rogers Doris Day Julie Hagerty Amy Yasbeck Heidi Hudson Leick Gilbert Gnarley... "Hello, my name is Gilbert Gnarley, G-N-A-R-L-E-Y..." And Dozens More... From Cincinnati... Charles Manson too... :-o
January 11, 200817 yr Did anyone see Cincinnati on that TV show called What you get for the money on HGTV? Pretty cool.
April 5, 200817 yr Cincy Rawks! This one's funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEpiGFbxOY0 They're in OTR. Aren't they tearing this pool out. ;-) Rockstar love. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5bAZfCl2Qk This looks like the bands version of the goings on.
April 5, 200817 yr ^ That's awesome! Even though I'm not a fan of this band, it will showcase the city over and over and over and over on national television stations that young eyes will see.
April 5, 200817 yr What is the other music video that was shot in Cincinnati? They mentioned it in the News Cast.
April 5, 200817 yr It was a Kenny Chesney video... I forget what it was called, but I remember seeing stuff about it on the news.
April 5, 200817 yr *Ahem* "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
April 5, 200817 yr ^ Showtime's the shiznit. I've seen that video before, was it shown on MTV or BET? I swear it looks like it was shot in Brooklyn. Hi-Tek was the best thing to happen to Cincy in the hip-hop scene.
April 5, 200817 yr No, it wasn't on MTV but it's been on BET for a little bit. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
April 6, 200817 yr Hi-Tek was the best thing to happen to Cincy in the hip-hop scene. What about Scribble Jam?
April 7, 200817 yr Okay, here's a blast from the past. I did a search and this movie doesn't seem to have been mentioned on here yet. AIRBORNE!!! Circa 1993, it's got Seth Green and Jack Black in it (among others) It was filmed entirely in the Cincinnati area (although it's mostly the Kentucky side.) But in the last scene, they skate down "Devil's Backbone." I've been watching it trying to figure out the route they take, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't make sense because they'd have to skate from Kentucky across the river through Mt Auburn (I think?), through OTR, then up Mt. Adams and then back to the Riverfront Stadium. I beg any pro athlete to try that. Here's the skate scene (ignore the music) and note that there are parts edited out. If you want the full scene you have to watch parts 9 & 10 below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ldpc9Dh78ik And here's the whole movie in 10 parts (no I didn't put it on YouTube, so don't come suing me if you're a hollywood exec.): Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-tLiOvqukY Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Co2UqkfS-k Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfBXrODPpok Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNG4qOV6NOg Part 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uz1o7tV4_U Part 6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoyaZ2X1aRQ Part 7: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2627_uYn12Q Part 8: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8snbz1pg_k Part 9: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZF42jduzus Part 10: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MwALIuoq9Y
April 7, 200817 yr I think this was mentioned, but I remember this one. The final race make no sense - I think the name comes from a road on the west side. I actually lived 2 minutes from Krohn conservatory where a scene was filmed. Also, nice shots around Longworth Hall and the bridges by it.
April 7, 200817 yr Honest to God, a middle/high school drama teacher at my school tried to get me the job of being a stand in for Seth Green for this movie. But it went to a kid who was slightly taller. Probably a good thing, since I would have had to dye my hair red. There were also a couple of other kids from my school who were in that movie as extras, one of whom I believe is Jim Tarbell's daughter.
April 11, 200817 yr I think this was mentioned, but I remember this one. The final race make no sense - I think the name comes from a road on the west side. Yeah Devils backbone is in Delhi or Green Township. I don't know, the west side all looks the same to me.
April 11, 200817 yr The street Devils Backbone starts in Delhi Twp and runs into Green Twp...however what most people refer to as "Devils Backbone" or more often than not "The Hairpins" is the portion of this map where Ebenzer Rd and Muddy Creek Rd run into one another. You can see both the actual street and the section of roadway in this map: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=39.130959,-84.649401&spn=0.013416,0.029011&z=15
April 14, 200817 yr ^Ha, Don't Hate!! The beginning of the race starts on the top of Springdale Rd. (in Colrain Twp.) near the convergence of I-74 and I-275. (Which is clearly visible.)
April 14, 200817 yr When you're young this movie seems awesome but I've seen several movies from my childhood lately like this one, Milk Money, and A Rage in Harlem and I realize that these movies are all pretty sub par. But I still love the love.
April 14, 200817 yr ^^Springdale is pretty ridiculous. It is always fun to head down that hill. When you approach it you go up a slight incline (bump of sorts) and then head almost straight downward. That little bump at the top of the hill makes it especially dramatic. You can see it here...heading from East - West. http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF8&ll=39.214101,-84.670215&spn=0.024073,0.045319&t=p&z=15
April 14, 200817 yr >realize that these movies are all pretty sub par. Yeah I watched Return of the Jedi recently for the first time since about 1983 when I saw it at Covedale Cinemas in Price Hill...it sucked! Something dramatic happens...human goes "YA-HA!" then quick cut to alien sidekick who makes some happy queek noise. Over and over again. Lucas took that formula to the bank. The dialogue is terrible, the premise is ridiculous, the sword fights weak. The only part of the movie I found compelling was when they cut to the drunk Ewok up in the tree who blows through that sea shell...Baudrillard would have loved that! I used to bike up and down that Springdale Rd. hill fairly often as a kid which was about a 12% grade...everyone and their grandma's pet psychic was in that Airborne movie, just last week a deckhand at B&B Riverboats was telling me how he was in it.
April 18, 200817 yr Michael Douglas plays a secret service agent in 2006's The Sentinel. The first lady's codename is "Cincinnati."
April 18, 200817 yr Michael Douglas plays a secret service agent in 2006's The Sentinel. The first lady's codename is "Cincinnati." I've already reported this one! lol ...
April 21, 200817 yr The first 2 minutes or so of Part 9 was filmed on KY 20 near CVG as it descends toward KY 20 and the Ohio River. You can clearly see the KY 20 and KY 8 signs in the action. Also, the house with the old people still exists. And is it me or is the Taylor Southgate Bridge missing?
April 25, 200817 yr   :clap:Here's the 3 DOORS DOWN " It's not my time " video    http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?artist=910689&vid=226614
April 25, 200817 yr It did say something about it not being able to be embedded...I thought I would try anyways. Just search it I guess...this is what I did: "3 Doors Down" + "It's not my time" It should pop right up on YouTube with that.
April 25, 200817 yr Damn, this is sweet! Notice the hometown pride coming out in those comments ... it's crazy how stuff like this draws civic pride.
April 25, 200817 yr Good grief that band it bleaping terrible. I had to crank this to flush that band out of my memory.
April 27, 200817 yr I am not a big fan of 3 Doors Down, but that is not a bad video. I think we can thank Lightborne Studios for the free pub by the way. They have done videos for Heartless Bastards and the Greenhornes as well as Death Cab for Cutie. I cannot say for sure, but the video for Summer Skin looks like it was filmed in OTR.

July 29, 200816 yr foxalphafilms.com is involved. That would explain that mystery banner on fourth street, right? I might be tempted if I can get out work on time. It might rain too.
July 30, 200816 yr TV pilot films on Square tonight http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080730/ENT/307300040/-1/NEWS0107 Fountain Square will be the setting tonight for an action sequence in a television pilot. Foxalpha Films/J9DED Pictures will film a military flashback scene for a TV pilot called "J8ded," said Michael Daemon, the producer and director. The $10 million production will be pitched to a major network this fall. Daemon declined to name the network but said the show, a combination drama and comedy, will follow two alternative band members after they get kicked out of England and relocate to Cincinnati to try to make it as a duo.
