Vacant for 17 years, currently being renovated for what seems like most of that.. Ohio Building, built in 1896 Art Tatum Memorial Column, erected in 2009 in memory of the greatest jazz pianist to ever live. In the background is the Gardner Building, which you may recognize from the top of the page. Obviously this is not a complete tour and I skipped many things. That just gives me another reason to do it again. Next, I think I'm going to do a tour of Promenade Park and the rest of the downtown waterfront. Comments and Questions are greatly appreciated. 8-)
August 31, 201311 yr Great tour! Any idea how many apartments there are in Downtown Toledo, existing and under construction? It is more than I knew there were, at any rate.
August 31, 201311 yr I love love love tours like this. Informative, nice photos, and a map to boot! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 2, 201311 yr great thread - we need more toledo on uo! even tho personally i knew perfectly well what you were showing us, most people w/o familiarity w/ toledo would not, so very good idea to include the wiki map view before you got rolling. i hope you can shoot more neighborhoods for us.
September 2, 201311 yr Thanks for the tour - I guess I didn't spend much time downtown during my college years except for going to Portside, seeing bands at the Bijou, and grabbing late night sliders at White Tower on Jefferson... I should really take a new look around downtown Toledo when I come back for homecoming this fall.
September 2, 201311 yr Thanks for the tour! Is there a story behind the Pythian Castle? Are there any prospects for reuse?
