KJP is on a roll!

There is no point in defending the mayor to tedolph. At this point, I've become convinced that when tedolph and Frank Jackson were kids, Frank stole tedolph's GI Joe with the Kung Fu grip and later used it as a marital aid.

Oh this was good

Raising kids is like dorm living. My kids are drinking the Beast...I totally understand what you mean though. It's too bad we drink so much milk.

It may be cheaper to just feed them calcium supplements and Beast; it will also make them more docile (or aggressive; it depends on what kinds of drunks they are).

I've experienced this living in Cincinnati for 40 years.  They so want to be Cleveland!

Oh, I was rolling on that one! LOL!

No, but I vaguely remember a time when the Daily Show used to be funny and original. Then Craig Kilborn moved on to bigger and better things.

This quote is so good because it really requires defining 'bigger and better things' downward so far that it stops meaning what everyone actually knows 'bigger and better things' means and starts meaning the exact opposite.  Also, Kilborn must be pissed that CBS imported an immigrant who will work for peanuts (it's my constitutional right to have baseless opinions) to replace him on The Late Late Show.

I did not see the debate ... but I'm betting that Boreas saw what he wanted to see.  I'm kind of wondering what he'll say if Kasich wins.  Probably accuse a few million Ohioans of being racists and retards.

From the: Tea Party Right-Wing Radicals/Liberty movement Thread

Funny how conservatives were worshipping the ground Bush walked on until the effects of his ideology started becoming apparent (Iraq boondoggle, Katrina debacle, economic meltdown, you name it) and his approval ratings took a nosedive. Now they're all claiming he was never a conservative. Because in the wingnut fantasy world, conservatism itself can never fail; people can only fail conservatism.

In a way they're right, though: There's nothing conservative about today's right wingers. They hate the idea that government even exists, and they want moral values to be dictated by a 3000-year-old piece of literature. They want a radical re-ordering of our economic system based on Ayn Rand's delusional ramblings.

So yes, we should stop calling the teabaggers "conservative", and call them what they truly are: right-wing radicals.

Ummm, two words "Old Yeller"

I think I was 7 or 8 when I saw it. Never saw the ending coming. Completely traumatizing.

Come to think of it, if it's a Disney movie, with an animal in it, one of those animals is dying.

Anyone ever see Watership Down as a kid? They decided to show that to us in my 6th grade class. Again, sobbing, oh the horrible sobbing. "The bunnies...noo.....the bunnies!!"

I hate Disney movies about animals for that very reason.

This is a pretty classic rebuttal from ColDEMON:

I don't know what Ann Arbor you're talking about but the one I know is full of boring white people, quiet Asians, ain't-been-black-since-the-80's-blacks, and ... Hayward/North Andre.

From Rob, of course.

I'm not one of those customization people with anything I do.  I've never modified a bike and I can tell irritate the guys at the bike shop since I've never taken off stock stuff they think is uncool.  I can tell most guys who work at bike shops don't like the lone wolves who clearly bike a lot but don't participate in any bike subculture stuff.

^

...becuase its a lot about "community" and 'subculture'.

Lone wolves don't fit into scenes like that, be they bikes or other things.

The fundamental difference is that democrats get the middle class mad at the rich and republicans get the middle class mad at the poor.

I have found a bright side to most of the announcements at the Banks, but WTF is the deal with two chain country music bars at the Banks?  Cincinnati has been doing just fine with none, so adding one...I suppose it's something new.  But two, really??  Maybe they can fill the rest of their spaces with piano bars.  If they need a chain I would have rather seen a House of Blues type venue down there than a a second country bar.  Maybe they'll sell wrist bands that get you into both bars during the weekend and have a mini redneck Midpoint.

Quoting the whole post for context, but the last line is what really cracked me up.

Maybe we should rename this board SmugOhio instead of UrbanOhio.

I'm one for never spending money in or at a Brand where I've had issues.  So I understand you pain.  I haven't set foot in American Airlines, Saks or Ralph Lauren in at least 10 years.  If Saks was the last department store, on earth, with a Prada in store boutique and I could only get there via American Airlines I'd, I'd wear something out of trash before setting foot in store or getting on an AA plane.

Beat me too it!

You two are addressing two different issues.  Boreas' point of emphasis was on the tinfoil hat theorists who think that climate change is nothing more than a hoax, being utilized by the radical, gay, islamist, communist left to enact social reforms, spread the wealth, and mandate weekly anal sex.  Gramarye is addressing issues you only reach once you take off that hat and start thinking rationally.

People who make fun of people who say they don't watch TV are like hipsters who say if you complain about hipsters you are one.

Agreed.

Went to Toby's Kieth's last night for opening weekend and it was indeed packed by 11:30. It's quite a large space and essentially feels like a sports bar with a live music stage. No cover, but drinks were on the more expensive side for Cincinnati ($4 for a domestic bottle)

The mix of people was straight-up weird. Lots of UC kids, YPs and even some hipsters, and then much of what I imagine the real target audience is for this place if you get my drift...

While this is not really my kind of place, I can guarantee that most of the people in there last night were from the suburbs and came into the city just to check it out. More people coming into the city to see the real progress happening, the Banks especially, is definitely a good thing.

I'd like to ask you a few questions about this place.

Did you love the bar?

Did you love the grill?

I was seriously expecting a reply when he asked that!

Just a perfect description of C-bus:

Every time friends visit from Cincinnati they comment on how big everything is in Columbus. Big apartments, big roads, big lots, big warehouses. Columbus is Ohio's Texas.

It also has some of the coolest, densest, neighborhoods in the state as well.

Just a reminder that we do not slam any city within Ohio, here at urbanohio.com.

The above quote may not have been intended as an insult, but it could be perceived that way.

I take pride in my city. Fact is, Columbus does have some parts of town that resemble things seen in Western cities.

It also has some of the coolest, densest, neighborhoods in the state as well.

I apologize if it was (and i kinda thought about it an hour or so after I wrote it).  I do enjoy going down to C-Bus as both my sisters are down there.  Especially the Victorian Village, Short North and German Village areas.  its just unfortunate how disconnected DT feels at times.

Just a reminder that we do not slam any city within Ohio, here at urbanohio.com.

Indianapolis, however, is fair game. Slam away.
