Hello all! MayDay and I have joined forces to bring you all a long-overdue Cleveland UrbanOhio Meet-n-Greet *THIS* Saturday, November 9th, from 6pm to 8pm, at Porco Tiki Bar and Lounge at 2527 West 25th Street. Please go to the following for details:

And just an FYI, dinner and drinks are on your own dime (we're not getting THAT much money in ads, folks!).

You don't even have to RSVP.  Just stop by and say hello!

All right, I'll be there. With the boyfriend and the kids (6+12) in tow, if that's ok. ;-)

Woohoo!

I may have a +1

Ha ha, wonder who that is???

^ ;)

Are you coming?

Are you coming?

Can't commit yet. I'd like to.

I'm in!

That is ironic that you just posted this.  I literally was just wondering yesterday if there were ever any meet ups.  I will be out of town this weekend though. :-(

I might have a +1 since I was planning on going to the Cavs game that night.

I will be on my way back from Fort Wayne that afternoon. If I'm not too tired and no family emergencies pop up, I'll be there.

I'm bummed I don't live in town :(

Nice choice on the venue- be sure to report back on what you guys enjoy eating and drinking there.

And I expect some stellar ColDayMan and MayDay photos.

Update: I can't make it, forgot that I already committed to my sister's birthday dinner.  :drunk:

Sorry I can't make it.  I'll cyber cheers y'all from the French Quarter

I'm in Luxembourg right now, so no dice.  Bummer.

Wow! You sound like you're right next door! :-P

I'd love to be able to go, but I can't make it on Saturday evening.

Attending !

Have you seen "Meet Me in St. Louis" ever?

UPdate- I'll probably not be able to make it- which sucks because I've wanted to come to a meet for a while now!  Oh well... there's always next time I guess.

I tried to re-arrange my schedule this weekend but to no avail.

You guys are just too spontaneous , i'd have needed something 2-3 weeks out. But then that sets us up at TGiving week which could be problematic for many people.

A couple to three weeks away and new places like Red Steakhouse, Orale's tequila bar, Pour Cleveland for coffee will be (should be) up and running. Drinks at Red? wow. just an fyi

Well folks, slight problem - Willeyville did their darndest but aren't able to accomodate a group that large (who knew so many would want to attend?!). :-( I'm going to check with some other spots but will try to keep it at a comparable price point and downtown or near-downtown location. We may want to consider a less 'sit down' dinner kind of place which I know could be problematic for those with younger ones in tow. Any suggestions, please send me a PM.

I may be able to stop by for a drink.  I got some stuff goin on on Saturday.

I'm lobbying for a new meeting venue over in the Detroit Shoreway area, perhaps Parkview or Happy Dog?  Both probably have live music on Saturday night

^how old are you?

LOL

i'm planning on popping in for a drink or two.

I think I will be there.

Would everyone be okay with having a few tables or a small area (as opposed to formal sitdown)?

Sounds good to me!

I hope to be able to make this.  I should.

Sounds good to me.

Has anyone considered looking at one of the locations featured for Cleveland Restaurant Week (for those of us who the most bang for our buck)?

I realize it is likely too late to considerate now... I just thought of it.

Casual is best for me.  I'm much more likely to attend somewhere that I can just "mill around the bar" with a drink & talk to others as opposed to a formal sit down discussion

I'm fine with whatever!

I have to downgrade myself to *maybe*...... but I do hope to at least do a cameo if I'm not able to stay longer

Mark me down to show up with a tentative +1.

Nice to support a forum member's business... it's like a UO cash mob!  I hope to make it... never met anyone from UO in person before.

Alright everybody!

The good folks at Porco have set aside their Tiki Room for our gathering from 6pm to 8pm - mahalo to UrbanOhio forumer porco and Shannon, Porco's GM! Please note, there's another party coming in at 8:30 so while we are welcome to enjoy the rest of the evening in the main area, we *will* be out of the Tiki Room shortly before 8pm so they can prep accordingly. Just letting everyone know ahead of time so when I say it's time to clear out, I won't have to resort to my 'bubbly personality'. Ask my partner how fun it is to be the target of my wrath :x

With that:

1. Porco is located at 2527 West 25th Street, approximately .5 mile south of West 25th/Lorain (West Side Market and West 25th Rapid Station). Onsite parking is available as well:

2. Foodwise, they offer tacos - a vegetarian option and a 3-meats of the day option. Since we have so many people, it's probably best to keep things simple :-) Of course, if you need other sustenance, there's plenty nearby in Ohio City and Tremont.

3. Drinkwise, I've heard rave reviews for their tiki cocktails. For those preferring beer, they have Kona Brewing's Pipeline Porter, Firerock Pale Ale, and Longboard Lager on tap and a few others - I believe Old Rasputin may be available this weekend.

4. For those who were hoping to bring youngsters - they are welcome provided they remain in the Tiki Room during our gathering but afterward they'll have to skedaddle.

5. For the first forumer (and only the first) who shows up wearing a grass skirt, I will buy you a drink (and only one drink and I ain't talking Cristal or rare-batch cognac!).  :drunk:

If you have any questions or need more info, please send me a PM. See you Saturday - aloha!

^or less sense!

I am planning on dropping in for a drink or two, but have to leave by 7:00.

AJ are you in?

Probably not. We have a school function that night on the east side, so I doubt I'd be able to make over there.

Wow! You sound like you're right next door! :-P

Have you seen "Meet Me in St. Louis" ever?

No, but I know the song the Boy Next Door. :)

I knew a girl who decided several DAYS before leaving to take a trip to a resort in Vietnam. So planning a get-together in my own city a week ahead of time is no big deal.

Hell, I'll buy TWO drinks for the first former who shows up with renderings of the new Convention Center hotel!!! ;-)

^deal (or did you mean to specify "official renderings" ;))

Yeah, I was going to say that I've already provided said renders in the convention hotel thread. ;)

KJP, thats all well and good but i've had plans for this wkd and next one. When i havent had plans, Ive also done spontaneous road trips or flown somewhere on a whim, not out of the country like your friend.

Oops, thats wrong, Ive made on-a-whim trips to Montreal, Toronto and Quebec city . Some of my most memorable.
