The piano store is surely a temporary, space-filler lease situation with a temporary sign that will leave or relocate when a "real" tenant is signed City Works is likely still paying rent. Piano store doesnt need 8,000 sq ft of (seemingly) prime restaurant space... maybe not even 800 sf. Also, 3 Palms pizza restaurant at pinecrest saya "temporarily" closed, but we'll see if this is permanent. They already had reduced hours. Pinecrest will find its mix. It's not there, yet... Cleveland likely doesn't have an equivalent to Sommerset In Michigan, Lennox in Atlanta , Aventura in Miami or even Easton in Cilumbus because the retail scene is so spread out on the east side. Beachwood, Legacy, Pinecrest and Eton etc. I wonder if it is now coalescing around Pinecrest and the Woodmere Corridor along Chagrin. In theory Pincrest has plenty of room to expand Ala Easton because any of those parking lots can turn into parking garages to open up more land for building expansion. Not to mention Beachwood Mall struggling somewhat and this Nordstrom rumor you mention.
March 6, 20223 yr Do we think that with finally something big like RH Gallery that IKEA would be attracted to chagrin Highlands??

In 2018 Ikea cancelled all in the works US full size stores (avg 350K sf), including the planned Cleveland (Garfield Heights) store at Transportation Blvd and 480 - where the overpass and exits were all upgraded to handle the expected traffic - and announced stores in Nashville and Raleigh, among others. The reasoning was to focus on eCommerce business, at which they were falling behind. Ikea may change course, but their current plan is on smaller urban showrooms (as small as 5K sf, up to 30K-100K) - and it's possible Cleveland may get a showroom and/or a delivery center (order online and pickup locally at a warehouse) but Ikea's big store strategy is still idle. CLE/NEO is by far the biggest US metro without an Ikea store... Note: Ikea would already have a store built and running for years at Tiedeman and 480 next to the Plain Dealer building, had an EPA guy in New York state not killed the plan over alleged "wetlands" - causing them to drop plans and regroup at the Garfield Heights site

Well considering Chagrin Highlands was supposed to be a huge modern office park bringing in thousands of tax paying white collar jobs, I could see them not wanting to settle for considerably lower wage paying retail positions and associated lower tax income. In the end, we ended up with that anyway.
March 9, 20223 yr So 3 palms at Pinecrest which was temporarily closed is now permanently closed. Are there any plans for a hot chicken takeover in Pinecrest it seems like that would be a perfect spot

August 29, 20222 yr Pinecrest: the former Slyman's/Red Robin on the perimeter of Pinecrest has now been demolished and work on the huge new $20MM Restoration Hardware / RH Gallery showroom and restaurant - nearly 50,000 sf - is beginning. More here from past article: https://www.clevelandjewishnews.com/news/local_news/rh-showroom-proposed-for-chagrin-highlands/article_efb1fd22-93ee-11ec-b4c1-bf5c06b969e2.html

August 29, 20222 yr Very unfortunate they go the route of tearing down a building that was seemingly just built. When are these developers going to be held accountable for their negative impact on our environment. Was there really no other location in that area where the RH building could have gone? I have to guess there was nothing special about the Slyman's location, but the impact on the climate to make the parts for it, then the energy to actually build it, then the energy and removal and dumping of the ised materials, is an unbelievable waste of our precious resources. That is my rant for the day. Monday's have this way with me.

January 11, 20232 yr Site prep has begun in the Pinecrest parking lot near REI and West Elm. According to the Orange Village Planning & Zoning minutes, this will be a freestanding Fidelity Investments location. It will relocate from Eton to Pinecrest. Fidelity also has a small office space on the second floor of Eton Tower, which I assume will also be moving. Crocker Park has a very visible freestanding Fidelity location, so this move makes sense (although it's interesting that both Fidelity and Charles Schwab will now be next to one another). Interested to see what new tenant will take its place at Eton. It's in a prime location and Fidelity has been there forever. ErieBank is also now open at Eton West End. February 1, 20232 yr A new Pinecrest leasing map and site plan was just published this past week at this link: https://shopcompanies.com/properties/pdf/pinecrest?f=site_plan Among those apprently joining the development - based on this map and/or confirmation from retailers' websites: Allen Edmonds (currently at Eton), womens' clothing stores Aerie and Offline (first in the area?) - both from American Eagle - and Heartwood Coffee Roasters, the gourmet coffee store now in Chagrin Falls and Hudson. The Last Page restaurant' s "The Last Bar" is still listed as coming - as well as the Chicago based Lao Sze Chaun restaurant. The above mentioned Fidelity Investments building - and a new 4 tenant building near the main traffic circle are also visible on the linked map. Adjacent to Pinecrest, construction on the the RH / Restoration Hardware 3 story, 45,000 sf mansion / restaurant / store appears to have topped out - and would seem to be on track for a 2nd half 2023 opening.

July 21, 20231 yr The Peleton store has closed - along with other recent Peleton closings in Cincinnati and elsewhere dldue to their financial woes and strategy change. Lululemon looking at moving from Eton to the former 3 Palms restaurant space on main traffic circle- to join the numerous other athletic clothing stores. A big draw. A hotel - presumably with Retail underneath - being planned for western middle space off main traffic circle opposite Warby Parker. Fancy 8,000+ sf Lao Sze Chuan Chinese restaurant opening early August in former City Works space. Offline and Aerie stores from American Eagle under construction on main Park Ave street. Allen Edmonds, moved from Eton, opened in June. 50,000 sf RH Gallery and restaurant perhaps halfway complete on former Slymans/Red Robin spot - wonder if this is a Q4 2923 or early 2024 opening based on progress status.

November 9, 20231 yr New leasing map posted today - first since March. Some minor updates including a Boba tea chain from Chicago, an accessory store, a potential Lululemon move from Eton (listed as apparel), the area's first Capital One Cafe, and an apparent near-doubling of the Saucy Brew Works space (confirmed via an October story about Saucy) + more. April 3, 20241 yr 3 hours ago, osu87 said: Anyone been to RH Cleveland yet?? Or ate at the restaurant yet?? Yes. Very good, if not yet great, food on day 8 of RH Rooftop Restaurant operation last Saturday night. Place was booked solid, same for the coming weekends (I tried...) - and folks really, really dressed up for dinner for once. Dinner food ranges from $8 fries, to $28ish (very good) lobster roll to $32 steak sandwich (great) to $38ish "grilled avocado with caviar" (delicious) up to, I think, $56 or so steak. Wine and beer only, no hard liquor or tradional cocktails. Butterscotch creme Brule was a highlight. Service and pacing still a bit off. Dinner for 2 w/2 drinks each and tip... $300, with no item over $40, so not cheap - but could grab sone charcuterie and wine and sit for much less, in th elegant space. If you go, perhaps avoid tables on South side of rooftop - as the view for out-facing diners (me) is of Harvard Rd and 271 - while interior-facing diners (wife) have a beautiful view of trees and a fountain in middle of space, the star attractions. Outdoor rooftop terraces - ringed by shrubbery - will be great Summer spots with fire pits and $$$ furniture. 1st amd 2nd floor furniture showrooms are plentiful, oversized, and very nice. Many people milling about store with wine etc. Open daily 10-9 Edited April 3, 20241 yr by eyehrtfood
