The reporting at the plain dealer and Cleveland.com has totally gone downhill they have a nice article today about the new cinema “Spotlight Cinemas” at Pinecrest today and refer to it the whole way through the article, the only problem of course it’s called SILVERSPOT Cinemas

So Pinecrest has put up on the street “way to park” pay to park kiosks so they are going to be charging for that street parking very soon

Elon Musk's brother to open Next Door 'urban-casual' eatery in Pinecrest development

Updated 9:03 AM; Posted 7:06 AM

By Marc Bona, cleveland.com mbonaCleveland[/member].com

ORANGE VILLAGE, Ohio - The latest restaurant in Pinecrest development is coming... Next Door.

Next Door, operated by Colorado-based The Kitchen Restaurant Group, is owned by Kimbal Musk. If his name sounds familiar, think cars not food: Musk, 45, is the brother of Tesla co-founder Elon Musk.

...."There's a lot of really great restaurants in Cleveland," he said. "We want to be part of it." In fact, he added, he also looked at downtown Cleveland for possible locations, including E. 4th Street. Expansion to downtown remains a possibility down the line, he said.

Urban casual in Orange.  ::)

Wish they could have one of those WeWork coworking places in Pinecrest. Those things are goldmines for the community, for commercial real estate developers, for entrepreneurs, for morale, etc.

The city and region have enough restaurants.

"There's a lot of really great restaurants in Cleveland," he said. "We want to be part of it." In fact, he added, he also looked at downtown Cleveland for possible locations, including E. 4th Street. Expansion to downtown remains a possibility down the line, he said.

Hope the food is better than the grammar.

Pinecrest is NOT in Cleveland!

Just noticed new signage Brighton Collectibles is opening at Pinecrest thus moving from Beachwood Place.

All that BS about not poaching local and regional businesses. Sigh... just a ritzier Oakwood Commons. F' em.

You know in this case it is Beachwood Place’s fault they booted Brighton from their prime center mall location to put Lolli and Pops there and places them in an obscure location in the mall, Can’t blame them for moving.

I went out to Pinecrest last weekend with my wife.  Strolled around, had a beer at City Works, ended up having dinner at Firebirds.  Overall, I thought it was very nice.  The entry to the office building is impressive with the whole wall of digital screens - wish someone downtown would do something cool like that.  The architecture, design & detail was very high end I thought, more so than Legacy Village or Crocker Park.  They both do a nice job with maintenance & landscaping but Pinecrest felt more modern to me, definitely the taller buildings and materials made it seem that way

Square Mile refinances Ohio mixed-use project with $171M loan

by REW February 6, 2019

Square Mile Capital Management announced the $171.5 million refinancing of Pinecrest, a 750,000 s/f mixed-use lifestyle project in the Cleveland suburb of Orange Village, Ohio.

The floating-rate loan will be used to replace the existing construction debt and fully stabilize the asset

.

Square Mile Capital Managing Director Matthew Drummond said, “Pinecrest is a one-of-a-kind asset in a strong submarket, and it offers a diverse and exciting retail tenant roster.

“Sponsors Fairmount Properties and the DiGeronimo Companies have created a true live/work/play complex. Both companies have a track record of success in Cleveland and have strong reputations in that metropolitan area. We’re confident that their market expertise — particularly Fairmount’s excellent tenant relationships — will continue to make Pinecrest a success. We were very pleased to have the opportunity to form this partnership with them.”

Heard a presentation yesterday from Randy Ruttenberg of Fairmount Properties. He said there will be two new big named retailers announced soon to open at Pinecrest. Earlier he mentioned Urban Outfitters opening a store here soon (not sure if that is one of the two, or in addition to them). He also said their biggest competitor for stores is not Beachwood Place, Eton, or Legacy, but Van Aken. I thought that was pretty nice to hear, and probably bodes well for Van Aken. In addition to the townhomes plan for the north of the site, which has been sold off to another developer to start on, they have two more large pads to develop. They may include more retail, but most likely will be mostly residential, which has out performed expectations, and not so much office, which has under performed.

Perhaps one is J Crew, which I haven't heard announced yet.

I'm wondering what became of Shinola at Van Aken though.  It had been announced and was on their website, but now it is not on their website.  There was even an ad for a manager a while back, but either it was filled or removed.

Van Aken has been quite about most things.

It’s on the website

I can see Van Aken being their biggest competitor. It really is nice. I can't quite put my finger on it but the layout and landscape design and general feel of Van Aken is I think better than Pinecrest - even ignoring the tenants and content of the development

Van Aken District is definitely my favorite new development in the region from a design perspective.  I just hope they keep going as I believe it needs to be much bigger to be a transformative draw.  I would like to see the next construction phase at the intersection of Warrensville and Chagrin (with a taller building as anchor-10-12 stories) but I recall a while back an interview with the developer and he suggested Phase 2 would probably be an apartment building on the Farnsleigh parking lot.

This probably should be in the Van Aken District thread.

It is apparently up in the air as Shinola had taken it off of their website (and indicated by Shinola to at least a few) that it isn't happening while a few are still saying, "late spring".

  We shall see.

As we previously heard J.Crew is moving to Pinecrest they put up the banners today at the site they are going into which is on the block where the Vineyard Vines is they will be two down from Vineyard Vines and right next to Homage

Very interesting it is no longer as noted above listed on the Shinola website of their coming soon stores even though Vanaken still listed on their website

The Shinola "Shaker Heights" store was listed on the Shinola website as recently as last week when I was checking to see if opening date noted (nope)... - b but definitely is gone now. Does this mean no Cleveland store at all OR a move to Pinecrest or another location? Store was announced 3.5 years ago. When talking to team at Columbus Shinola store last Fall they knew about Van Aken delay and internal company talk seemed to blame that on RMS/Van Aken.

It was gone from the website when I checked over a month ago.

So now apparently Shinola is reversing course and indicating they are opening at Van Aken again! (the Shinola website should again indicate Shaker Heights)

Posting additional VAD opening info in that thread.

It is listed back on Shinola’s website as coming June 2019 to VAD

Whatever happened to the second restaurant that was supposed to go next to Coopershawk and in front of Drury???

A Chuy's Mexican restaurant is still on track for that spot based on the last Orange Village docs I saw. It does appear that Cooper's Hawk, next door,  has been a big, early success...

Just noticed Sephora will be opening soon at Pinecrest by Pottery Barn, I assume they are moving and will not keep Beachwood Place open.

Didn't they recently re-do their space in Beachwood?

It’s actually been several years since they moved closer to H and M.

It could be a similar situation to Pottery Barn, where they'll just have two east side locations - Beachwood Place and Pinecrest. That location always seems pretty busy.

The folks at the Beachwood Sephora said the site is too small to stock a lot of the product they have at many of their other locations, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they build a larger store elsewhere. Not sure what that would mean for Beachwood Place, though.

I just read that about the Sephora store at  Pinecrest it’s going to be larger so that they can stock more of the items that they’re unable to stock at Beachwood due to the size; it was an article in the Cleveland plain dealer that popped up when I did a Google search; So it is quite possible that beachwood will stay open just like pottery barn stayed opened there.

Anything else you have heard it looks like some other spaces are being worked on but don’t have dance in front of them yet

Pinecrest officially announced the new Urban Outfitters location on Facebook today.  As eyehrtfood stated above, it will be 8,500 SF, next to REI, and a new prototype model.

First eastside location for UO and the fifth in Ohio.

The Drury Plaza just south of Pinecrest (from 271 North).
