A couple pictures of University Circle from several walks throughout the neighborhood. This is part 1. Part 2 will take place once the weather warms up a bit!

Great photos!  And love the fall colors!

Oh, yeah, like it's so much warmer where you are. Where is that anyway? South Beach, Ohio?

Yeah, like it never snows in DC.

The top 10 snowstorms on record for Washington, D.C.:

1. 28.0", Jan 27-28, 1922

2. 20.5", Feb 11-13, 1899

3. 18.7", Feb 18-19, 1979

4. 17.8" Feb 5-6, 2010

5. 17.1", Jan 6-8, 1996

6. 16.7", Feb 15-18, 2003

7. 16.6", Feb 11-12, 1983

8. 16.4", Dec 19-20, 2009

9. 14.4", Feb 15-16, 1958

10. 14.4", Feb 7, 1936

Only two Cleveland snowstorms topped 20 inches -- the blizzards of 1913 and 1950.

Thanks for the DC snow storm history, KJP. Unfortunately I've only been able to witness two of those. The other winters we've had less than five inches (for the whole season!)

I hear ya. I just bristle at the notion that Cleveland has worse weather than anyplace, when our weather is actually pretty docile. So I was noting that DC has had more severe snowstorms than Cleveland, although Cleveland regularly gets snowfalls in consistent amounts throughout the season. I found another dataset showing the heaviest 24-hour snowfall in Cleveland for each winter going back to 1950. Cleveland's heaviest 24-hour snowfalls in most years were in the 4-8 inch range and the heaviest was 13.6 inches in 1993. http://www.cleveland.com/datacentral/index.ssf/2010/07/annual_cleveland_snowfall_tota.html

And just an FYI, it's currently 54 degrees here in "South Beach, Ohio" (aka Dayton) while it's currently 37 in, well, Lakewood ;).

Lake breeze. Right now, just after midnight, Dec. 22, it's 63 degrees at Akron-Canton Airport and it's still 37 degrees at Cleveland Hopkins. It's also foggier than all get-out here along the lake.

I'm sure it's almost as foggy in University Circle which would make for some cool pictures (the point of this thread). After all, Hollywood thought enough of University Circle for it double as the capital city of Kazakhstan! ...An 'Air Force One' movie reference for those who missed it.
