NEITHER!  All those pictured, look as though they looked at a store mannequin and asked for "that" very same outfit!

Apparently Jake's newest hobby is to find silly things on local news websites (unfortunate misspellings or the fact that - GASP! - two guys wore a similar shirt) and go for cheap laughs.

Try harder.

OH Snap!

I have it on record that Jake hasn't bought any new clothes since 1992.

Mock turtlenecks and stonewashed jeans. So, you're saying that 1988 me is cool now? Just bring back the pleated pants. Come on, you know you want to. Vive le pleat!

Duck Head?

Some of this looks like Star Trek junk - definitely nothing to be caught dead in.

Pretty sure I might come out on top in a head cutting duel with the cellist, too

I never wore it. Actually, it wasn't big in Upstate NY. I was a Lee man, myself. Nice, dorky Lee. With the matching stonewashed jean jacket, because, you've got to coordinate.

^^ If there were ever a candidate for a beard transplant it's that guy.

^Bringing back the hi-top fade! Oh la oh la ayyy!

If we're bringing that back, I'd also like to return to the halcyon days of referring to things as 'jiggy'. Oh, too late. Michael Reghi has beaten me to it.

^LOL. I remember seeing the guy with the high hair (whichever one he was) in the Village around 6th Ave a couple of times--about 20 years ago. I guess they disbanded?  :|

I forgot I had these on my photobucket account.  These are photos I took from the April 2013 DAAP fashion show at UC:

The scared little girl in the shark's mouth is a nice touch.

Baggy seat/waist and skinny legs on pants.  I think this is my watershed moment in life when "I just don't get kids these days."  I get the skinny jeans..... I don't agree that men should wear skinny jeans (or capris)..... but I get it.  This new look has me dumbfounded how anyone could possibly think that looks good.

man, I can only hope the shark masks take off.

I dig the crowns and skull shoulder pad.

I dig the crowns and skull shoulder pad.

Ha.  I didn't notice the skull shoulder pad until you mentioned it.  The really weird thing about that fashion show is that most if not all of the female models are...in high school.  I found that out the hard way when a few of their moms contacted me about buying photos.

From what I gather the DAAP students make the clothes themselves. It's tough having the idea of the designs come through when your sewing skills aren't pro quality and the models come from area high schools.  I'm sure we'd all cringe seeing the budgets of the big-time fashion shows -- the cost to make the clothes, then payments to the models and staff.

"It's tough having the idea of the designs come through when your sewing skills aren't pro quality"

And even if they were, they need to get out of academia and understand proportions and what's flattering and what's not. No woman wants her legs to look shorter - a good amount of those designs you posted do just that.

And from the back of the crowd, a solitary voice quietly began the chant. "Pleat, pleat, pleat, pleat". Soon, a small number took up the cry, then more, and more still, until finally, the thunderous chant of a thousand voices could be heard demanding that which they have been denied for too long. "PLEAT!! PLEAT!! PLEAT!!!"

Now, finally, the casual male shall reclaim that which was wrongfully taken from him by the fashion world. Comfort, ease of movement, and the right to take a full breath after a large meal. We request...nay, we DEMAND the return of the pleated front khaki!

Yeah I've been norm-core since 1978.  In fact I've owned at least 4 pairs of those grey New Balance running shoes since about 2000.

I'm more certain than ever that at some point the NY hipsters will discover Steelers tailgaters, and make that a look/movement.  I can envision literally thousands of people in Pittsburgh gear who have never actually been there.

^^ You just described Staten Island (specifically PS 30) circa 1979. We all had the full length Steelers winter coat and the fall/spring satin Yankee jacket. Fashion!

^^and who will save the cargo pant?

Will we see a Duck Head revival?

Allow me to revise my previous post.  I can envision a culture of people "tailgating" and going to sports bars ironically.  Like the hipster bars could take on team allegiances, like a Steelers bar across from a Browns bar.

Sounds like Columbus post-2000 or so. I never knew any Steelers fans growing up, but now...

I apologize ahead of time for this video -- arguably the most egregious fashion in the history of this thread:

Jem's got something to saaaaaaayyy

She bought a ton o' makeup today

It doesn't matter that much to her

As long as she's hot

^proof positive that supermodels are people too! My hands are clean of any responsibility for this incident as it must have happened after my "photoshoot" and she's obviously had a wardrobe change, although I think a get well card might be in order

I hope that hat's not made of nutria fur

That's the prettiest homeless person I've ever seen.

But why is she taking a picture of that model?

I think it's part of a new vocational program for the glitterati.

Hahaha. I remember my uncle telling me this was all the rage in Bermuda.

This will be a great outfit for me when I'm reborn as a fancy son of a British merchant in the 1600's

Nobody wants to see hairy legs like that in a corporate and/or professional setting.

Although I might be able to pull it off

I thought that is why they call them 'Bermuda shorts'..... it's not new.  My wife and I went on our honeymoon there 10 years ago and all the men were wearing dress shirts and ties with shorts and those knee-high dress socks.  It actually didn't look too bad, but that picture above with the no socks look and loafers..... no way

If you're a male child over 8 years old,  you should not wear Bermuda Shorts.  You're no longer cute and neither are they on your 8 year old behind!

Does anyone do any of these subscription services?

Do they send everyone in America the exact same clothes every month?

I was hoping to start wearing a monocle. I sure hope they're not becoming "cool".
