a beautiful neighborhood in southern mex city, well touristed, but more than worthwhile

and also very easy to wander around once you get there

 

 

 

so lets all go down to coyoacan -- but 1st here is a pro-tip -  the long rush hours on mexico city transit make new york and yes even tokyo rush hours look like hippy spin dances in open flower fields. yes. it is beyond brutal and not recommended. instead, call for sitio cabs around mex city.

next is the panteon xoco cemetery, a quiet, atmospheric oasis next to a highway

 

 

 

i am an old, historic cemetery fan & mex cemeteries are always my favorite style

i believe this is the the back of the casa de la malinche? she was mother of the first mestizo, a polarizing indigenous woman who hooked up with cortes and helped him, so she is seen as a sellout among the indigenous and looked down upon by the spaniards. a strong woman in tough times for sure:
