I bet 2007 was about the time Frisch's quit selling liver & onions...

I had friend who went to Frisch's and ordered a Philly Cheese Steak with no onions. With a side of onion rings.

Are still people p!$$ed off about the switch from Coke to Pepsi?

Is the "fudge" on Hot Fudge Cakes made of real chocolate?

I feel like UrbanOhio should have a dedicated Frisch's thread.

Yelp knows PBR was never that big in San Francisco or the Bay Area. Tecate is the hipster beer out here.

And at its core, San Francisco will always be a vodka town no matter how much bourbon heads want it to take over. SF was a pioneer in vodka cocktails and is home to Skyy. I'd say the city in general is a cocktail town (I'd say the same about LA). That's where all the big things are happening and where the trendiest bars are at. Both SF and Oak have breweries, but they're small and you can't get the beers at most bars...except for Anchor Steam, the original.

Portland beats all of California when it comes to beer obsession. I don't think any of our breweries out here are that good. They usually fail with the darker beers. The obsession with IPA's got old three years ago. I think Great Lakes and Bell's beat all West Coast breweries pretty handily...though I'll concede things are improving.

kale.  You know its a superfood, right?

I got a chocolate shake last time I went.

8astards...

There will be a very good poutine place opening up some in CLE. Poutine is definitely on the up

I'm not a fan of west coast beers either.  I think Wisconsin has some of the best btw - New Glarus is worth a trip to.

In interesting one to look at anywhere, but especially on the West Coast, is “pork belly.” It was literally not a thing in the US a few years ago, and now everyone is using it, even though it’s just uncut bacon. Some places just use thick bacon and call it pork belly to sound more sophisticated.

That was my biggest complaint about the last iteration of Mayberry in Cincinnati. It seemed like there was pork belly on everything.
