Posted February 14, 200619 yr I completed a redesign of Cincy Images last night and was looking for feedback positive or negative. I added a database, rss feeds, blogging, improved and better intergrated about us & contact us sections, expanded link section with brief summary and search capability although the search feature isn't tied into the gallery until I can migrate the gallery over from pbase.com. Outside of a searchable photo gallery can you recommend something that you think I should add to the site? Building up the Arts & Museums section of my links section was enlightening. I was blown away by some of the offerings that Cincinnati has to offer that I didn't learn about until yesterday. I didn't know Cincinnati had a Chamber Orchestra, second ballet company or several smaller museums. Check it out... http://www.cincyimages.com
February 14, 200619 yr looks great, you can do my site anytime. (and I mean that, what time are you available?)

February 14, 200619 yr Looks like you got Mambo to work for you. I ditched ours for the current redesign we're working on. Looks good Monte.
February 14, 200619 yr Looks really good! Only complaint I have is that I find the news stories on the right side a bit distracting and hard to resolve because it's such a large block of colored text. But on the whole, awesome! You have a lot of great content.

You have a lot of great content. Andy, those RSS feeds have been really annoying me, they seem to have a mind of their own and I spent a long time trying to fix the spacing so they weren't touching the line but no luck yet. All thanks for the kind words. It is good to hear. The previous site wasn't very dynamic and I was trying to create a site that offered more content and updates but didn't cross into Urban Ohio's turf.
February 14, 200619 yr Looks great! As always, great photographs and content. Personally, I have found Mambo/Joomla to be great. It has really made it much easier to manger my sites and keep everything current--no matter where you are. It's also great when making site-wide changes. Have you thought about using something like Gallery2 or Coppermine for your photos or are you quite happy with PBase? Also, I am getting the pop-up ad. Does the add on counter give you more stats than your host or mambo?
February 14, 200619 yr inkaelin, the third party counter has since been removed. dfly, tell me more about Gallery2 & coppermine? Do they mesh well with Mambo?
February 14, 200619 yr I haven't really used Coppermine other than playing around with it a little bit, but have used Gallery2 and have really liked it. I haven't used PBase, so I can't really compare it to that. The Gallery page is at http://gallery.menalto.com/ As far as integrating Gallery into Mambo, it can be done, but I'm not sure how easy it is. I think a visual integration can be done pretty easily. But as far as a functional integration, it looks like it is in the beta stages, so I'm not sure how stable it is. You can check out http://codex.gallery2.org/index.php/Gallery2:Embedding Also, if you just google mambo, gallery 2, and embedding or integration there are plenty of forum discussions on it.
February 14, 200619 yr UrbanOhio, CincyImages, and ClevelandSkyscrapers are all fantastic resources for this state (among others; there are too many to name like Columbusunderground, etc). February 15, 200619 yr I am having some lag in loading my site, does anyone have good recommendation for page redirecting? My site is installed in a directory called mambo on cincyimages.com so I take an index.html page at root level and redirect it to /mambo/index.php. I imagine their is a more efficient way. This is the reason for the lag, if any of you are encountering that. Here is the basic code, does anyone have another recommendation? <META HTTP-EQUIV="refresh" CONTENT="0;url=/mambo/index.php"> <link rel="shortcut icon" href="/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
February 15, 200619 yr You could put a small code in your htacces file. I use several of them for this site. Redirect /index.html /mambo/index.php <---- that should work for you For an example of how it works go to www.urbanohio.com/forum and you will be directed to www.urbanohio.com/forum2.
February 17, 200619 yr Rich, thanks for the help. I decided to go another route and use a javascript redirect. It should load faster now. I have also added a "Media" section to promote Cincinnati. I am looking for some good video of the Queen City. If you know of any on the web or have some personal video, let me know as I might be interested in hosting it on my site.
February 17, 200619 yr Monte, You are truly a gifted photographer and your website is about the best marketing the city could ask for. Keep up the good work!
February 24, 200619 yr I am so appreciative of these pictures as I live in Los Angeles now, but I grew up in Cincinnati and my family has a major role in Cincinnati history from Union Terminal to the Reds. There isn't a city on the face of this earth that can hold a candle to Cincinnati. Stand tall Cincinnati, stand proud Cincinnati! Chris Franz Los Angeles, CA It is comments like this that make running a website about Cincinnati all the more worth it. http://www.pbase.com/montecarloss/cincinnati_skyline
