Posted April 8, 201411 yr I was in Denver for a smart growth conference in February, and made side trips to Boulder, Longmont, and Fort Collins. I hadn't been to any of those places in 35 years. Others will follow, but here's Boulder (mostly downtown and Pearl Mall): Pearl Street, looking east On the mall Funky & newer, but it works I think I see deco I did! I did see an art deco theater! Mountains and a neat old hotel Old church with a modern addition that works More deco Nice Boulder County Courthouse More peaks peeking out on a hazy day Looks like a 19th Century bank the Daltons or the James gang might hit Handsome corner ... ... and a handsome streetscape Rowhouses ... out West! The heart of downtown Boulder The stately Hotel Boulderado Skinny alleyway Classic post office ... in context More east of the mall Potemkin-like -- it's just a facade Sunset. Looking toward Boulder from the northeast Evening commute out of Boulder Devil's "Thumb," towering above Boulder
April 8, 201411 yr definately makes up for a rather western lack of charm with great, classic main street density. and they just keep adding to that, so bravo.
April 9, 201411 yr Well done. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
April 9, 201411 yr Looks like a healthy and vibrant downtown, as one might expect the dominant state university town to be. Gorgeous scenery and some great historic buildings too. Question: is Boulder close enough to Denver that people live there and work in Denver and vice versa, or is it entirely its own town? I know on a map the two cities look fairly close, but with the mountains I realize that driving time and distance are not always interchangeable.

I have a cousin who lives in Denver and works in Boulder. Great pics!
April 10, 201411 yr Boulder offers enough that it is not dependent on Denver, but there is a lot of back-and-forth.
