I hope this is a huge success so they start the second phase right after. There is little over a half acre northwest of the tower slated for some other development.

  • Are you guys seriously bitching about a 17% vacancy rate in a huge luxury building that has not even been open for a year yet?

*sigh* Just like with flats east bank, the goal it to have a rental office that is busy all 12 months of the year instead of one big bump based on when the building opened. That means any given m

Here's a view from Wade Lagoon:

That's at 10 stories.  So it will be roughly twice that high.

I told my wife this is where I'd like to move when the kids are out of the house.  She didn't say no!

A photo taken today, showing a side view of the growing tower.

^groan...lol

It's amazing how thin parking decks can be now.

^Even crazier is that they could likely be even thinner in many cases if it weren't for the fact that you need a certain amount of concrete around your rebar for fireproofing reasons. I remember doing the math once in one of my structures classes and found that the slab for a parking deck meeting the requirements of that example was only 3.5" thick but would need to be around 6" to meet fireproofing standards where it was located. Kind of insane.

Nice pictures. Thanks for sharing! Super happy to see some more highrises going up in Cleveland. Hopefully this does extremely well and sets an example for other developers.

Does anyone else feel the placement of this project is a little strange? I am all for the new construction but...

^I like how it's jammed into that parcel.

I like the placement. I love the way it looks from wade lagoon (between fenway and crawford halls), it packs in a lot of residents on that side of MLK, and it will fit in well with the potential future UC3 buildings between Stokes/Chester on the other side of Euclid. Keep in mind that there's also the potential for a phase 2 development on the empty land north of the pnc bank.

Man if a family with a high school age child or an 8th grader moves in. They have the most convenient walk to school.

Where are people going to eat? Where are the restaurants that are within walking distance? Where is the grocery store? Where are all the shops and stores these people are going to shop at?

if they cannot walk two or three blocks, jump on the BRT...

I went and studied in the atrium at the art museum today; on my break I walked around outside. Safe to say I am absolutely smitten with what Uptown has become, and this tower is really pulling it together. I couldn't help but feel like I was walking around Washington DC. I mean, I walked maybe 1-1.5 miles and during that time I passed world class museums, the home of a world class orchestra, a prestigious university, and a residential tower with the proverbial "crane in the sky." The area was SOOOO full of life. Students, doctors, families, locals, all enjoying it. I'm now more convinced than ever that this is just the start of residential development Uptown.

Uptown is .4 miles away.  Little Italy, slightly further.  Anyone with a bike or two legs that are healthy are in a great situation. map attached

Are you serious?  I could walk to the first Uptown restaurants in 7-8 minutes.  Constantinos for groceries in 10 minutes.  Plus, I imagine first floor retail will be a part of the UC3 development which will be across the street.

Or walk in the other direction to the Red Line. And the free UC shuttle buses are everywhere.

Looks awesome!  I like seeing the Healthline stop at the bottom of the picture.  That building will have some great views - and are those some balconies from which to see them?

Yes, those are balconies.

This building is where I plan to move when retirement is imminent.

I was going to make a similar comment.  That's my plan too.

Out of curiosity, what factors are motivating your decision?  For me, I would like to be able to walk to all the museums and Severance.  Plus, when I go to the airport, I can just take the Red Line.  Not to mention taking the Health Line to baseball games.  It really is ideally situated.  It will allow my wife and I to ditch one of our cars.

Let me preface my statement by saying that I won't be ready for retirement for about 20 years.  But my wife and I both enjoy the museums and the orchestra.  Ideally as I get older, I'd prefer to live in a place where a car is not needed. Also, I have no intention to own a home when I get older so as not to burden children with selling real estate and have no maintenance and one floor living.

Not to mention... the building is gorgeous

^It's going to be quite majestic and stand out prominently at its location.  It will be another iconic building for University Circle, which of course is loaded with them, but none quite so tall and domineering.

I wonder how the plans for Two University Circle are coming.  :-)

Hey Fellow Tarblooder, good to see another neighborhood member!

A couple I took this week. The first one is looking down Euclid Avenue from Uptown at East 115th...

As seen from a Red Line train at the Cedar-University station....

An impressive presence from the Rapid station!

Great stuff KJP[/member] well done

It's also got a great presence among the trees as you head south to Euclid Ave on MLK

Nice pic- the building definitely has a presence.  Now if there was enough demand for maybe two or three more... ;-)

Very impressive building... I viewed the same angle yesterday as KJP's camera angle along Euclid from Uptown... One U. Circle, along with the Seidman Cancer Center tower makes this stretch of Euclid even more majestic and, yes, more urban.

If it fills up fast and rents are stable or rising, then yes, there is a market for more.

They're pouring the roof of the 20th floor today!

The density of Uptown is outstanding. PACKED with 5-20 story buildings.

^ Does this really count as Uptown though? I assumed it ended at the corner where I believe the Starbucks sits by the the UH cancer center.
