This should probably be in the Cuyahoga County corruption thread.

Did they demo the cylinders yet? If so i would never have been born.

Holly got flown there, so I guess if it wasn't for them our daughter wouldn't have been either.

Hey all, does anybody have any updates on the new housing that was supposed to get built across the street on 25th? I heard the new CEO is not big on the idea and has put all major projects on hold -- and even that she was considering converting the park back to a parking lot (genius innovation). Just curious if anybody's heard if the housing is dead in water.

Agreed, that horrible outpatient building needs to be removed. I understand the need to reevaluate plans, but leaving that building up long term is not an acceptable solution for the neighborhood.

Do they have a timetable for when they plan to demolish the towers?  Because I thought it was going happen already.  I actually kind of love them, and brutalism in general, but keep hearing they're eventually coming down.

The main thing I love about them is their size and stature.

Personally, I'm glad their not tearing it down. I grew up one stop sign away from this location and still have property and family there, now I live a few minutes away and am there often, so I'm very connected to this area. Could it use some updating to make it more esthetically pleasing abutting the sidewalk, sure, but tearing it down would leave a big hole/gap in one of the city's major urban corridors. I love the new development their doing at Metro, but I was not a fan of that part of the vision, I'm fine with adding a park that's great, but I think it should be back off of Scranton or Valentine... not on one of the city's main roads. West 25th St already has to many empty single plots from the Nestle plant down to 71, having a huge gap their would negatively impact the urban feel of the neighborhood. They've added the green space on the old parking lot to the south of the building, now put a park space back off of Scranton or Valentine and freshen up the outpatient space to make it more inviting and you'll have a win-win! The neighborhood gets a pocket park(to go along with Brookside and Clark Fields nearby), Metro keeps needed space, and a major road in the city's urban core keeps it's urban feel... is that a win-win-win!!??! :)

Would a repurposing of the twin towers to apartments not be feasible?

I'm too lazy to search, I swear years ago (maybe pre-covid) there were plans to develop across the street. I recall them requesting demo of the Lincoln Building, or something of the sort...

I thought something was planned for the vacant lots across the street too, but I could also be making that up..

I do understand wanting the “urban feel”, but is this really contributing? The building is completely facing away from W25th, and they basically created a moat between the sidewalk and metro.

All I can think about with these towers is this clip from Austin Powers lol. I can’t tell if your comment was intended to be a joke or not 😂

To report back, they're still digging out the foundation of the old yellow building, but it looks like Lincoln Bldg. might start demo today. It's certainly prepped for it. Going to miss that facade (even if the building was empty..).

Blowing up this thread, but LINCOLN is no more

Shame.

Was that demolition at W25th and Trowbridge?  I noticed a new cleared area there today?

Yep, wiping out all the buildings in that fence line. They weren't much, but it's going to be a bummer having a police station parking lot there now.
