October 23, 20168 yr I still didn't get an answer to my question. :-( Is La Villa Hispana (o mejor La Villa Latina, quizás) intended to be the area centered west of Clark and W25th? Best answer I could find... https://plainpress.wordpress.com/2016/01/01/forum-seeks-to-shape-vision-for-la-villa-hispana/ Thanks, everybody, for the replies. From this citation LVH sounds like both an area and a new (or potential) civic association. Remember: It's the Year of the Snake

September 13, 20177 yr CPC is usually pretty good at keeping its web-based agendas and databases updated. Except for BZA, I haven't seen anything updated on their website since late August. March 17, 20187 yr [cross posted from University cirlce thread given its importance] WTF??? Look at the where the bldg to built is: http://realestate.cleveland.com/realestate-news/2018/03/cleveland_clinic_aims_to_add_b.html. Square in the middle on Cedar between 101 and 105 Street. Why not on the corner of 105 and Cedar which is a parking lot? Why is the city consistently CLOSING CITY STREETS? Now 103 St. will be a dead-end street as well? Nice trap to kill people if you're chased someone down it. CC loves this as they don't want through traffic full of black people driving through their campus. How many streets have been closed partially for the clinic? Why does the city allow this? Do they not care? Do they not pay attention? Why does the PD make no comment about? Do they not realize what is happening? How do we stop this?
April 9, 20196 yr I realize it's an old agenda now, but I was really looking forward to the pictures that were to be included with last week's Design Review agenda. They were never added. I was especially looking forward to seeing the proposed design for the new East 79th Red Line station...... http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/drcagenda/2019/04052019/index.php "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

July 16, 20204 yr ^Interesting that so many people got upset about this. The house is 2600 square feet, hardly the "McMansion" that opponents are labeling it.
July 16, 20204 yr Hav photos been permanently eliminated from the Planning Board agenda posted on line? I know they are included in the video coverage of the meeting, but that's pretty hard to watch when all you want are the photos. Remember: It's the Year of the Snake

I don't see any new images posted since March and the pre-2020 pics are gone. The links from this site to photos that were posted at the CPC site are no longer functional. September 18, 20204 yr In response to the many questions about the City Planning Commission's lack of images accompanying its Design Review and Landmarks Commssion, I asked the CPC about securing a packet of images for today's Design Review meeting and for future meetings. This was the response I received from a CPC staffer...... "There is no media distribution list for the graphics for our meetings. I have been dealing with requests for copies of presentations as they arise. I am happy to send you one or two that you are interested in, but cannot deal with blanket requests for presentations. I am assuming that someday we will be able to upload all presentations to our website again." January 20, 20223 yr Posted this in the Bibb thread but Joyce Pan Huang has been announced as the next Planning Director.
February 6, 20223 yr This post is more about city planning vs the city planning commission but I couldn't find just a city planning thread. (Feel free to move if need be.) Article on the equity between cities. Also, this is by a local planner so unless I'm missing something she should know the difference between Lyndhurst (which is what I think she means) and Linndale (which she spelled, "Lynndale"): "In metro Cleveland for example, there is a 24-year difference in life expectancy between the suburb of Lynndale and the Cleveland neighborhood of Hough, a few miles away...." But overall, her point is about geographic equity between municipalities---Cleveland vs. East Cleveland vs. SF or Seattle. https://www.planetizen.com/features/116088-considering-geographic-equity
May 16, 20223 yr Pulling the discussion here so we don't get off topic... Is financing really the "toughest" part about development in this town? I know it's one facet... construction costs are high due to a lack of builders/contractors, and rents are low for a double whammy on financing. That can make things challenging, but it feels like it's only half of the issue at most. From my viewpoint, the bigger hurdle schedule wise is getting through all the necessary boards. First you have the block club reviews, then neighborhood level reviews, landmarks commission, board of zoning appeals, planning commission, and then after all those reviews you have to actually secure the permits themselves! At nearly every step of the process it seems like a single motivated individual can put a halt to a project too. It doesn't matter if that person is on the board either... just a normal citizen that makes a fuss is usually enough to sway a board's opinion. I've applied for two simple building permits as a homeowner and both of them took 3-6 months for someone at the city to even look at my application. I had solar put on my roof and it took two months for my contractor to get the installation permit, then an additional two months for the CPP interconnect agreement then 2 more months for the installation of my bi-directional meter. All of these steps should've taken a few days to weeks at most. It's honestly a full time job just learning the city processes and staying on top of them to review in a timely manner. Is there anything we can do as citizens to make the design review/permitting process simpler or more efficient?
June 17, 20222 yr I just got done watching the PC meeting from today and wow, what a breath of fresh air (even though members didn't turn over too much), but it's nice to have a different energy in the room..

I can see why the complaints, but they don't own the land. My only complaint is the style of architecture - not my thing. I don’t have an issue with the size. However, if I owned the land, I would have built a multi unit condo building with those views, if the planning commission, and zoning, allowed it.
