I'll post pics as the project progresses.  I understand that they are getting ready to do exterior work and hope to open by December.

Middletown OKs deal to help firm move downtown

MIDDLETOWN - A stained glass company renovating and moving into the old G.C. Murphy Building at Broad Street and Central Avenue could be the spark to ignite redevelopment downtown.

Well I finally have some pics to post.  Sorry about the quality but the weather this weekend didn't cooperate with me  :-( Anyway, as you can see, they haven't made much progress on the exterior other than the brick work at the street level and some stucco patching at the upper level.  Those horrible green windows are from the mall removal project.

I did get a peak inside by looking through the windows and I must say...Wow.  They have a long way to go, but this is really going to be a cool place.

I am happy to report that Beau Verre/Riordan Studios have moved into their new home.  Sorry to report, I have no pics...yet!  Perhaps this upcoming weekend.

An interesting comment about the interior renovations.  It appears that the studio's owners purchased several wood panels, shelving, doors and light fixtures from the recent demolished McKinley Elementary School, which was built in the early 1930s.  McKinley was a beautiful looking school with top notch finishes, including two Tiffany chandliers.  The Moorman's did not get these however.  They will hang in the new McKinley school.

They used the items purchased as part of their interior renovations.

Actually its not white...it is more of antique white or cream color.

My dad and I sure got a treat last weekend when I was in Middletown.  We had gone downtown to Middfest and I suggested we try and see if Beau Verre / Riordan was open.

It was..and we got an official tour from the company's owner....top to bottom.  They really have done a nice job with the building and have put a lot of money into it.  Only the ground/first floor is completed.  The first floor contains the studio, showroom, space for classrooms and a small gallery for artists to show off their work.

The basement will house a their retail business where they will sell stained glass supplies.

The upper floors are also incomplete, but the brick walls are all exposed.  I know they've talked about making apts/condos on the third floor.  The second floor will house offices and a potentially a museum.

Linda Mooreman is a very nice lady, and she spent a great deal of time with us talking about their business and what they've done to the building and what they've got planned.

They also plan to replace the windows...major kudos to them for that one!

If you are ever in Middletown...stop by :)

Can you imagine someone in middletown pronouncing Beau Verre Riordan?  LOL

I figured you were kidding, but sadly, there is some truth to what you said.

Well this project isn't exactly 100% completed, but its true, they have relocated and are open for business.  There is still much work to do outside and on the upper two levels.

They have some pics on their web site of the inside, main level.  I'm posting them below.

I found an article about them moving into the building here, but does anyone have a picture before they renovated the building?

Both the building and their work look great!

Building circa 1922 - The John Ross Store

I have some pictures of the building shortly after the mall's de-construction, but not electronically.  I'll scan one in tom. at work for you.  As you can guess, it got progressively worse while convered under the mall.

The last picture was taken after work had already begun.

Thanks for the pictures.  Nice to see the building throughout the years.
