It appears this Sept 28th is the last goodtime happy hours cruise for the season. it is on a rapid line. it may be destiny.

And they have group discounts too.

^ so generous of you to organize musky! :-D

Hmm, I doubt we'd have enough people for the group discount - more to the point, I doubt we could get enough people ORGANIZED and PAID in time for the discount. Still, I think it'd be a lot of fun so save the date, folks!!!

Friday, September 28th - *Boarding @ 5:30pm*, SAILS at 6:00pm (be there early, ya beatniks)

What you'll see - if you like that sort of thing ;-)

only one way to find out....

How did it go?

okay, so what's next on the agenda?

I think I can come.  I have a new show opening at Playhouse Square that weekend, but should be done by 7:00 Sunday.  Someplace downtown would be good for me, or on the west side.

that day should work for me, no real preference as to where.

So far, I'm in.

I'm in.  We might have trouble finding a bar with later hours on Sunday though.

If they'd list their hours on their site, it'd be a lot easier! :whip:

we could just buy some 40oz and drink on the corner.

Maybe on Public Square to test that whole loitering thing. Wonder bar sounds good, although I wonder if they keep in the crappy gateway tradition of being closed on Sunday

IN the event Gateway does not pan out-places open on Sunday: Bier Markt (Happy hour all night), Old Angle (2 for one Jamisons), Lolita (outstanding SUNDAY happy hour food and some drinks)

Those all sound good - especially all night happy hour on Sundays (though we did have a prior meet at Bier Markt).

One thing about meetups that I'd like to try to stick to is super-easy transit access for the car-free/transit folks. So here's my question: is Lolita a stretch, given that it's a Sunday meet and the buses/trains run less frequently? For most people it would involve at least a bus/Rapid ride and connection to a Circulator - too much of a pain in the arse? I guess I'm not focusing so much on Lolita but just trying to get a feel for everyones' comfort zone.

Another goal I would have for the meet-ups would be to hit up different nabes (at least the transit-friendly runs). As much as I love Great Lakes, I would hate for that to be our every-other-month place ... hopefully, I won't go the way of DaninDC for that sacrilege. For the same reason, I would save Bier Markt or Old Angle for a later rotation. I wouldn't mind doing something downtown. If not E. 4th, maybe Bar One? I've been hearing generally favorable reviews there, and it's definitely central and transit-friendly.

^oh sure, pick the place next door to my office on a sunday.........

(seriously, I don't care)

I like the east 4th idea, if we can find something open Sunday. Maybe we can have a sit in on public square in protest, and when they come to tell us we cannot have a beer on the square we will say...well why can't we have a drink downtown on a sunday evening, why??? I agree Tremont is not transit friendly on Sundays. Detroit Shoreway is maybe an option (redstone maybe?). too bad it has to be evening as dim sum in Asia Town could be fun some time (sat or sundays at brunch time) Where is Bar One?

bar one? cleveland press building (i think that's the name, the old newspaper, superior and e 6th next to domino's)

leader, press, blah blah blah

Okay, I stopped in at Wonder Bar and the cute gal behind the bar said that they're open Sundays. She also said they have the following on tap:

Stella

Dortmunder

Christmas Ale

Guiness

Blue Moon

and a few others...

So - how does Wonder Bar sound for Sunday, Oct. 28th? Any time preferences?

Do you think we need to consider if there is a home game that night or not.... assuming we are in the World Series?

Me either - but I found this on MLB.com

Looks like we're OK.

i'd still think the gateway area would be fairly busy for an away game

X, your thoughts on Away games during the NBA finals?

It got busy, but not too bad during the NBA finals.  There was the viewing party at the Q, but it doesn't draw like the real thing.  Indians are doing the same at the Jake- but again, it doesn't draw like the real game. If it's anything like the ALDS/ALCS away games it wll be a moderately busy night; we shouldn't expect the place to ourselves.  I think that any bar with a TV is liable to be busy, though.  The Indians are a bigger show than the Cavs, even with LBJ.

"we shouldn't expect the place to ourselves.  I think that any bar with a TV is liable to be busy, though."

Is that okay with everyone?

Anything to drown you out.

Looks like I'll be back from NJ in time for this meet; Wonder Bar sounds cool, haven't been there yet. Are the Browns playing at 1 or 4 that day? Depending on how the Tribe does tonight, that could be a pretty sweet day for Cleveland sports fans.

I hope to come!  The august meet was fun but I couldn't make sept.

They play an away game at 1pm - and we don't need to discuss that other team (at least for another day or two). Sooo, how about Wonder Bar on Sunday, Oct. 28th at 7pm?

deal.

is it just me or is a 7pm START late for a school night? If its just me then thats ok...

I'm good whenever on Sunday evening.

Sounds good to me.
