Actually, bump that. I'm visiting my friends in Chicago for a few days then skiing in Wisconsin later this month. That's too much time off of work.

As an impromtu "Meet Up," I thought I'd put out an invitation to an event I'm helping organize this Saturday at West Park Station near the corner of Rocky River Dr. and Lorain Ave. For $15 you'll get all you can drink beer and all you can eat wings and pizza for 4-7 PM. Local Cleveland band The Madison Crawl will be playing after the event and they'll also have the Mayweather vs. Hatton fight on the tv's later in the evening. West Park Station is Kid Friendly, especially on Saturdays when their kid's menu is buy one get one free entrees. (I recommend the kiddie corn dogs.) No need to buy a ticket early. If you're interested, just come up at about 4PM and ask for around for Vince. (Don't ask the restaurant staff 'cause I don't work there and they won't know who you're talking about.)

So when and where are we doing the Cleveland meet-up?

Who is taking charge of saying where and when?

I'll be in town for the holiday and always looking to meet up with non family. More then three days and I need a break... Let me know and I'll be there before I head back to Chicago. Will be nice to see all of you again!

OK, I'll take charge on this one. I'm proposing we get together at 6 p.m. Thurs., Dec. 27 at the Corner Alley/4th Street Bar & Grill, located at East 4th and Euclid.

If you only want drinks, they have a large bar. If you want dinner, they have a full menu. And if you want to bowl, you can bowl until 2 a.m. or until your legs turn to rubber -- whichever comes first.

Want to go somewhere else? Speak up!! Otherwise, let's go with the Corner Alley.

Got it in my planner. Will be throwing gutter balls till the train comes, but I will be there... Anyone else?

Sounds good.  I'll catch the trolly from my girlfriend's place-- it will be one of the last times I'll be able to do that before we move to Detroit-Shoreway.  It will be interesting meeting some of the faces behind the fonts here.

It is on my calendar... again.  :-D

Okay, we've slacked a bit. Any suggestions for Feb. 28th? (A Thursday)

I am out Weds-Fri next week but don't plan it around me, obviously.  If lunch ends up being M or T, I'm in.

i only have M&W open for next week. (for lunch)

I will be on vacation from tomorrow through next weekend... but one of these days i would be interested in meeting the UO crew.

hmmmm... Cleveland = 8 degrees... Caribbean Islands = 80something...

sorry.

ack.  Unless it's monday, I can't go.  My dept has scheduled my "birthday lunch" for Tuesday.  If it's monday or perhaps the week after/week of the 13th, I can go.

I'm free every day for lunch that week!

i should be available all that week as well

M, Tu, & W

I cannot make lunch on any of those days. Normally Mondays and Tuesdays are out and Wednesdays are good, but I'm on new committee for Sun that meets at 11:30 a.m. in Valley View on Wednesdays. I'd love to go, but I probably won't until late March.

I do think we ought to have weekly lunch meetings downtown or near downtown. It might be a nice thing for some of the new arrivals in town to get acquainted to people here.

Yes, if we did it more regularly, even every 2 weeks, we would all know each other better and it would be easier for people to join when they can, including newbies.

its quiet in here again.

Recommendation for the 28th(ish). Pop Up Cleveland is holding an event called Leap Night on the east bank of the flats the night of the 29th. Pop Up's event series is meant to highlight all of the opportunities that surplus space in "Shrinking Cities" present ... in this case, the plan is to convert the east bank into a winter sports area ... complete with snowboarding, ice sculptures and an ice rink. Given the event's nod to shrinking cities urbanism, and the fact that it could be a lot of fun, might be a good UO event ... and there's booze in relatively close proximity.

this sounds like a great event. I cannot seem to find the time on the promo. Do we know where exactly on the east bank it will be?

Hi all, we're going to have our first official UrbanOhio lunch meet (not lunch meat) on Wednesday, February 20th. at NOON

In addition to meeting and hanging out with the "cool kids", our goal is to bring a little extra business to locally owned spots so our first destination will be Octane Cafe at 528 Euclid Avenue. http://www.octanecafe.com/

If you can make it, please reply in this thread or send me a PM - if we have enough people, I'll go a little early and snag some tables. Hope to see you there!

I'll be there!

they have a chicken or turkey sandwich made with chutney that is delish!

I cannot attend, but would love to go. Unfortunately, we have our weekly staff meetings at 11:30 a.m. every Wednesday in North Olmsted.

Can't you get out of that meeting. Tell your boss in N.O. there's a breaking story you need to cover -- "People are eating lunch Downtown on Euclid Ave. :-D

We'll see.

I should be able to make it.

It's not like I have a job, or anything like that hold me back.

I wasn't really planning on eating yogurt with trail mix for a side on Wednesday, but i should be able to make it... By the way, if you are ever out on the east side and driving back to your home downtown and think to yourself "I wonder what Mt. Pleasant is like at night, maybe I'll take Kinsman all the way in..." Ignore yourself and proceed as quickly as possible back to fairmont. Bad idea.

oh and please tell us why?

Do it today, I'm posting from Lakewood right now.

One of these days when it is on a weekend, or in the summer, I might just have to make the trip from central PA.  I'd love to meet you all.

I'll make an appearance.

Dear Diary....

Thanks Mom.  :-P

I can't make it, but I would have loved to. Sam was a former client of mine, and the food there is great. He's having a tough time because of the Euclid BRT construction so I'm happy you guys are throwing him the business.

I'll be there. I'm at risk of a demerit for this.

P.S.: is she going to be there?....
