How will we know each other?  Is there some kind of secret handshake?

If KJP is willing to blow off a staff meeting, well what excuse do any of us have...? See everyone at 12:00 Noon!

I'll be there. I'm at risk of a demerit for this.

P.S.: is she going to be there?....

heh...she used to work behind the counter in between competitions. I doubt she does any more though :-(

She's the owner's (Sam) fiancee

I haven't seen her since Gladiator started but I think she has a lot of competitions around this time of year.

Sorry friends,

I have a sick child at home from school. I will not be able to make it.

Tick, tick, tick. Who is ready for some old fashioned dorkiness?

Oh, what I wouldn't give for a teleportation device right about now.

Just got back from the first official UrbanOhio Cleveland lunch - quite a nice turnout at Octane Cafe. It was nice to meet some new people as well as see some of the usual folks :-)

We're thinking of a few places to have our next lunch - the first is Crop Bistro on West 6th: http://www.cropbistro.com/ For a look at their lunch menu, go to http://www.cropbistro.com/bumperCrop.html. Any suggestions are welcome - we'd like to keep it between the Warehouse District and Playhouse Square (and points in between).

Lovely meeting you all.  I'm up for Crop or wherever we end up.

too bad... I was downtown today, but was at another lunch meeting.  Ah well!

I'm sure it did!  But it was all for the good of urban Ohio, so we should be happy that so much progress was made over lunch today!

Nice meeting. I've been getting all depressed and lonely after quitting smoking last month, so it was great to see/meet you all on a frigid day. Looking forward to the next one, though I may miss it if it's going to be between March 12-23. I will be in England. Could we hold the next one on a Thursday or Friday?

KJP, if you need to unload, let me know via PM.  I know how you feel as I'm going through the same thing with caffeine.  Stay strong!

Thanks.

I'm traveling a lot the next few months too, but if we can start having these more regularly then it won't be that big of a deal if you miss one, I'm thinking.  In the next month alone I'll be in LA, then Wisconsin (personal trip) then NYC.  We can have it on whatever day works for everyone.

Hang in there with the quitting!  It can be done!

The quitting isn't as hard as it is finding someone to fill the loneliness. It's very hard for me to meet women and open up to them. Go figure -- someone who works as a reporter...

I don't want to stray too far off topic but if you PM me maybe I can make some suggestions.

damn, I'll go to the next one.  Didn't even hear about this

And KJP, I gotta tell you, it's damn near impossible to date someone attractive in this town.  Everyone seems to either be taken or....not all that good looking.

Don't feel bad, man.  You're not alone, I too am afraid to approach a women.  I can talk to someone about work, but in a social atmosphere, I'm most uncomfortable.

OK......back on topic.

Damn that was really shallow.  NOW back on topic!

^^You can also help by editing old posts instead of two separate ones within minutes of each other.

I want to echo what has already been said--it was nice to finally put some faces behind the screen names and meet everyone.

On the walk back I got interview by Channel 5 on the possible closing of the Cleveland Grand Prix??  I was damn cold, so I hope I don't sound too stupid on the 5 o'clock news tonight.

likewise.... even if i was forced to eat rabbit food (wraps with trail mix).

In regards to the grand prix... :?

CLEVELAND, Nov. 7, 2007 – For twenty-six consecutive years, the shores of Lake Erie have come alive each summer when the Grand Prix of Cleveland roars into town for the annual celebration of speed at Burke Lakefront Airport. Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and Grand Prix officials announced today that this tradition will continue, thanks to a new five-year agreement between the City and the Grand Prix to hold the event at Burke through 2012. Organizers also announced that the 2008 event, the first under the new agreement, will take place June 20 – 22.

“The Grand Prix is a significant annual event for the City of Cleveland. It is a popular attraction that puts Cleveland on the world stage and delivers an annual economic impact of some $30 million,” said Mayor Frank G. Jackson.

"The Grand Prix of Cleveland is one of the City's unique assets," said Council President Martin J. Sweeney. "We are pleased to have a healthy partnership with the Grand Prix and look forward to many races to come."

Wow, UOer's are everywhere...

Nice to meet everyone and look forward to the next one.

KJP, you can always come out and sing karaoke with me. In my experience it's a great ice breaker. Doesn't do me any good though, I'm married.

Where do they still sing karaoke? I haven't done that in 15 years! Give me a deep-voiced song, like David Bowie's China Girl. Hey, how about a UrbanOhio karaoke night!  <-----futile attempt to keep this somewhat on topic.

Tokyo!  It's all the rage over there!  OH...in Cleveland?

^ Many places, some that would be good for an UO meet, some not so much...

One downtown location is Becky's on Saturday nights.

Hi and Lows over in chinatown or whatever that area is.

Dinner/drinks would be cool for me...karaoke not so much...I'd have to be ready-to-puke-drunk to get up there and sing with my voice.

I think you all are a nice bunch of people, but I've only done karaoke once. Furthermore, I really don't feel like it would be appropriate to get THAT tipsy in front of everyone - I mean, you'd never respect me as an Admin ever again!

Oh you don't have to worry, I don't think that the respect level really could get any lower than it is. ;)

I am all about doing potentially embarrassing things. Just not Karaoke. I just as well stick needles in my eye.

Pickwick & Frolic has karaoke now on Sunday nights, if you'd rather be entertained than actually sing (or if you feel the need to get away from the singers  :-D). It's a bit more of a prodcution than you'll find at many of the local bars. Just an idea...

Ok. I would also rather stick needles in my eye than WATCH karaoke

^ Understood. The P&F show usually is more like watching a band (without instruments) than typical karaoke, usually. I've seen singers show up who are in bands and one of the comics even got up and sang so it was fun.

So can this thread get any further OT??? My apologizes MayDay, I was just giving KJP ideas.

If you guys just so happen to be planning the next one between the 16th and the 23rd of march, I'll definitely be there.. the 5 hour trip is worth meeting you all haha

Any incriminating pics?  :-D  How was the food?

sounds like you all had fun. I had to have a business/ working lunch, but at least it was at WSM Cafe. When the weather breaks and I can ride the scoot or bike, I hope to join you all for lunch meet.

Redbrick, thanks for the ideas.

MTS, I thought the food was pretty decent, for health food! ;) No pics though.

Peabody, please do join us next time. You can analyze me anytime.

Don't let my being out of the country March 12-23 affect the schedule for the next lunch meeting. I'll catch ya in April.

Are you being sarcastic? I have to ask, because it was posted here, stickied so it wouldn't get lost, repeatedly mentioned, and linked to the calendar. If that's not enough - and I'm asking sincerely, what more would we need to do?

Flashing lights and theme music?

Engraved invitations? :)

Sweetie, you're an excellent host and organizer.  You did everything you could.

If people skip a thread or don't read/post here on the forum on a frequent basis, there is nothing more you can do.

I have spoken!

I think a lot of people probably skip certain boards.  I never used to read Urbanbar.  However, on day I was bored and checked out every single board, and found out that pretty much every one of them is interesting.  Now I waste too much time on UrbanOhio though! :)

Nice lunch yesterday.

Uh, yeah about karaoke...I don't know what I would be more uncomfortable doing, singing or streaking!

Anyways...
