i'll be busy at the union club giving them all my money for future nuptial celebration.

You "will" be busy? You missed it McCleveland. It was today!

sh*t. well in that case i guess i was busy sitting at my desk.

Man, I wish I could have been there....well, here's my story if it matters:

I boarded the Red Line at the University Circle stop at 11:45, which I then thought I may be a little late.  Once we reach the E. 55th stop (which took a painful 20min), we're told that RTA has annonced all rapids all shutting down due to a computer problem.  (JMasek...there's not a manual system as well?)  Soo... we're told to get off and wait for a shuttle bus.  After waiting a while, I decided it would be a good idea to try and catch the Cedar bus instead--I missed by one block (saw it drive past and just missed running after it) .  I then tried the number 6, got to an island, about E.60, I was skipped because I wasn't on the other side of the street??  At this point it was 12:40, so I decided to eat a good lunch at Gallucci's, which was delicious!

Sorry to everyone--I did try!

Now if I left my house around 5 or 6 in the AM, I would have been able to make it.

When school is out I'll definitely be able to come though.

From Transportation:

rideRTA.com says "All Rail Running Normal Schedules."  However, I don't know if that is an update to an earlier bulletin about the rail problem or if it is in relation to the other headline item about the Public Square detours & congestion.

Was it just my train then??  Sucks cuz I missed the 11:30 by about 30 secs.  Well, maybe God wanted me to eat at Gallucci's today and have good pizza.  Surprising there were a lot of people shopping for food....seemingly mostly from the suburbs.

Again, sorry to everyone who was waiting!

to go back on topic...how was Crop?

I was disappointed with my burger (dry, bland meat, dry bread) but the obligatory cornbread they provided was awesome. The waitress also forgot my Diet Coke and I was thirsty! Nice looking place, though. I still tipped 20 percent because I know how hard it is to be a waiter/waitress and MayDay knew her -- so it didn't seem appropriate to make a reduced "statement tip" with her.

I know every restaurant preps foods. But to prep it down to the level that a sandwich can't be ordered without Dijon? Shenanigans.

Also, why did my Cuban Sandwich taste like Wasabi? Like really bad, it was dominating everything.

I know that I didn't make it, but I'll have to go for lunch to Crop sometime, because I've loved it for dinner every time - I wonder if they just don't do sandwiches & salads well?

Yeah, that's disappointing to hear about Crop's lunch.  I enjoyed my dinner experience at Crop and plan to go back again.

I thought it was alright, I had the Asian Chicken Salad with cashews which was fine - not great, but fine. For the price I think I prefer Metropolitan.

My feeling exactly. I couldn't complain about my chop salad, but Metropolitan has an advantage.

AHEEEMMMM. Just to clarify for those who don't know, 20 percent is the STANDARD. You tipped 20 percent though and that makes you a great American. And yes, it's demanding work involving constant running around. However, some "servers" (gender neutral term) are completely inept and/or lazy and deserve to be tipped accordingly!

I always thought that 18% was the standard and it is 15% if the server is uninspiring. But who really can figure out 18% off the top of his or her head??

Is 20% really the standard? I thought the actual standard was 15%. Most of the time I do 20% but it is not unusual for me to give %15.

Exactly, so why not just round up? Besides, we're in a recession. Show some empathy.

Mayday, no jokes about how spraying windex on people warrants a smaller tip!!!

(to end the discussion, 15-20% is common from my experience. But so is 20-25%. Depends on how upscale the place is).

So what will go on in the summer?  I would really like to come to some of the meets.  Since I'm about 5 hours away, coming just for one day isn't that great for me because I have class all week.  In the summer, I'd be able to stay all day and maybe spend a night in a hotel. I'm just wondering about it because I would absolutely love to come and meet some people.

I think the inaugural summer happy hour fri cruise on the goodtime iiii is in order. I think she sets "sail" in June

Why wait till June? Yeah I'm alive, so many threads so little time, I just found this. I clicked notify LOL.  If you guys pick a date I can make sure I don't have 1)flr time since it' s  not set up yet or 2) an apptmt cause I will already have one.  Unless you don't do this every month; and yes MayDay it seems like a PITA to arrange LOL

I imagine there will be more meet ups before June (and I happen to think the goodtime iii is a blast, but the first rush hour cruise is not unitil mid june). A few of us did River Sweep (cleaining junk up along the river) last year. This year it is the 10th of May. Maybe that would be fun? Lunch afterwards?

:police:  sounds good as long as we can wash our hands afterwards!

Be sure to post some summer outings because I'll definitely come.

That's a good idea.  You should bring it up over on the UrbanOhio Day of Service thread, too.  We should try to figure something out for this summer soon.

OK, but no cleaning up of "Edgewater Whitefish" beached at the lakefront park. Those are nasty...

Oh no. nothing gross like that. just broken glass, abandoned underwear and used condoms.

eeew^ who knew? I am poking around trying to get some info on the clean up. Selfishly, I want  to do it in the Flats...once I get info I will post it and see if anyone want to join me.

You can choose from one of seven areas to clean up, but the kickoff/afterparty is at Nautica:

Riversweep

Nautica Parking Lot

9:00 AM - Noon

RiverSweep is Ohio Canal Corridor's annual, environmental awareness and clean-up initiative. The event partners multiple non-profit organizations with private companies to clean areas along the Cuyahoga River Valley and its tributaries. RiverSweep is a "done in a day" event where volunteers gather at one of seven designated areas. For more information, call Tanya at 216-520-1825 or e-mail [email protected].

I thought I would be doing this. But then I had a pre midlife crisis regarding an impending big birthday the next day...so I will be in Tunsia, Africa on the 10th.

yes I know.  it went from "what do you want to do for your birthday?"

me: nothing! (truthfully not into it)

man:finally go to dinner at Lolas?

me: well,maybe

man: we have been meaning to go to the one of the lake Eric Islands. maybe this is a good excuse?

Me/Man: click click internet search

and so it goes...some how in the Mediterranean. I guess I need to take pics. the clean up of Lake Erie white fish will have wait until next year.

  • 2 months later...

I think the new schedule comes out Sunday - I will know then whether or not I'm working that night.  If not, I'm there!

My parents will be in town that weekend, but they may enjoy a cruise... So maybe!

Aww man.. we're not moving until the 26th.. that sounds like fun. Maybe in August

Some friends and I are coming north that weekend, but we haven't decided where.      I want to hit C-land up something fierce.  Never Been!      But the damn girls are giving me static about going to Cedar Point and Put in Bay.  I am going to see if I can get something hammered out this weekend though.

I'm out cuz it's my birthday weekend & family will be in town & such... raincheck for next time!

my schedule appears to work.

I might be able to take off work that day.  I doubt it though.  I want to go!!!

I want to come.  I just have to figure out how I can get down there on time.

Is there booze served on the cruise?  Then I may be "all in"

Is there booze served on the cruise?   Then I may be "all in"

yes. but the lines get crazy. Get on the boat early, head directly to the bar, and purchase all provisions you will need for the voyage at once.

If people are going in out of town, this is a good wekend to visit, as it is Ingenuity Fest weekend.
