March 29, 200619 yr Well, pope didn't like June 3 for Columbus because he has a hangover scheduled for that day. But maybe that's okay for Cleveland?
March 29, 200619 yr ^just find me in public square sleeping next to the pigeon guy. i'm sure i could make it (maybe late, maybe hungover) It would be a lot easier to make it 15 minutes hungover, than 150 miles
April 25, 200619 yr I'll definitely be there! Looking forward to meeting MayDay and some of the other Clevelanders! Can we get some kind of dinner and bar/club/pub thing planned for that Saturday night? I'm down for whatever, but I would like to have a good time while I'm there. Count me in on: The UrbanOhio Cincinnati Meet - May 20th The UrbanOhio Cleveland Meet - June 3rd The Official All-Ohio, Urban Ohio Meet: Columbus - June 10th
April 25, 200619 yr Just to follow up on the interest in this that I expressed a while ago, I don't think I'll make this one. My summer work time is flexible, but there are only so many times I can go back and forth to Ohio. I'll just look forward to meeting some of the Clevelanders at the Columbus meet instead!
April 26, 200619 yr cincy-rise depending on what side of town we are going to be on we usually set aside a time for food. Last year we did GLB, i think three years before we did primo vino. Other mini-meets were at that place on W 25th or the amazing tower city food court, obvoiusly we're open to suggestions unless mayday is dead set on something.
April 26, 200619 yr The one thing I can absolutely assure you of when you visit Cleveland (well, two) - you will have good food and (if you imbibe) good and strong drink(s). As we're going to have some newcomers, I think it might be best to start downtown, head to Ohio City for lunch (lots of options, let people explore on their own), see who is still up for more and take the Rapid from there to University Circle. Cincy-Rise, in the past we've split up after dinner... people tend to have different ideas of what constitutes a "great time" when it comes to a night out. However, it seems like whatever your scene - there's always a few who dig that too. :-) Regardless of anything, the starting time will be 10:00am on Saturday and we'll definitely meet downtown so we can take advantage of the Rapid. I can put together an itinerary so people running late will know where to pick up. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
April 28, 200619 yr I'm new to this site but what exactly do you do at the Cleveland Meet? Do a walking tour of all the great architecture and neighborhoods that Cleveland has to offer, plus observe any current projects that are under construction? https://www.instagram.com/cle_and_beyond/https://www.instagram.com/jbkaufer/
April 28, 200619 yr I'm new to this site but what exactly do you do at the Cleveland Meet? Most of the time, you just walk about wishing the architecture was up to par with Cincinnati's ... ;) ... be merciful!
April 28, 200619 yr MayDay will have the itinerary soon. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
April 29, 200619 yr is the whole day mandatory, or can people pop in at some point? Speaking of pub crawl, I hear Ohio City near west development Corp is putting together a 5 K and pub crawl for June 17.
April 29, 200619 yr Which comes first? The 5k or the pub crawl? I think it would be more fun if the crawl comes first.
April 29, 200619 yr Which comes first? The 5k or the pub crawl? I think it would be more fun if the crawl comes first. I have to say the way it was explained I thought they were combined...like you could run or crawl, and you stopped for drinks along the way then crawled home?...you can tell I am not a runner. run, then crawl is the deal.
April 29, 200619 yr It could be a run from pub to pub, and instead of water stands, the pubs put out pints of beer. I'd be up for that. Oh, and I will try to make the meet, work schedule permitting.
April 29, 200619 yr i did a mayfield road pub crawl once. We started at I - 271 and ended at little italy.
April 30, 200619 yr ^ Impressive! Until I quit, I just drank at home to save money and to avoid killing myself or others in walking/driving to the bars. I will be at the UrbanOhio meet. Just tell me where. Although I no longer drink, I can visit bars, but prefer those with decent food and Diet Coke or coffee. April 30, 200619 yr I am a more of a lurker on the site, is it ok to go on the walking part of the tour/meet?
April 30, 200619 yr I am a more of a lurker on the site, is it ok to go on the walking part of the tour/meet? certainly so! This applies for lurkers who have never posted, or people who have never registered but still read the board. Bring as many people as you want, we don't bite.
May 9, 200619 yr Just noticed the mentions about the OC Run and Crawl. It is on June 17 at 7:00. Night road race (5K) through the streets of OC, *followed by* the pub crawl! Participating neighborhood bars will be offering discounts/specials to runners with their bibs. More details will be forthcoming on www.ohiocity.com. You can also contact Hermes, the race organizer, for more info (www.hermescleveland.com).
May 10, 200619 yr I would like to join the fun as well....I have never done an UrbanOhio event, I think it would be cool to meet some new people! If you want to really do a pub crawl, then maybe we should start on Madison Ave in Lakewood and work our way East(or the other way around)? I will be just getting off shift from the fire station that morning...so I wll be ready to roll!
May 10, 200619 yr Folks - just to clarify, you are welcome to join us at whatever time/point you can. Lurkers included - and don't be afraid, just remember we tend to get a little silly (ok, a LOT silly). As we get closer to the day, I'll post the itinerary along with a map so it'll be easier to see where we'll be and at what time. Also, if you know or think you may be late, it would be a good idea to send me your phone number via private message. That way, you can call ahead and you'll know where to find us. As far as pub crawls and whatnot, the early portion of the day will be spent doing the walking tour. We'll most likely hit downtown, Ohio City, and possibly University Circle using the Rapid to get back and forth. Trust me - trying to keep a caravan together of 20-30 people via car through ANY city is not a good idea. Lunch will likely be in Ohio City - that gives everyone plenty of options but keeps us in the same locale. After the walking/Rapid tour (which will likely end in the afternoon), people are welcome to organize whatever they'd like. Feel free to use this thread to do so, if you'd like. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 18, 200619 yr If we can get a pic of ColDayMan doing a kegstand, my life would be complete  Here's the official info site for the meet: http://www.clevelandskyscrapers.com/forum06.html clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 19, 200619 yr no really. as of right now there will be at least two kegs. There's three birthdays of friends in a three day span (myself included) plus a pre-engagement party (not for me). If anyone is really interested, details can be given at the meet.
May 19, 200619 yr As a Jewish man, I'm offended by your comment. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
May 19, 200619 yr nice schedule. Does this mean I should brush up on my UC architecture? Stay intoxicated. Gehry's Peter B. Lewis Building will thus appear to have straight lines and make complete sense. As a Jewish man, I'm offended by your comment. As a West Side suburbanite, what's a Jew? May 19, 200619 yr As a Jewish man, I'm offended by your comment. As a West Side suburbanite, what's a Jew? as an west sider, you must be catholic, so just go read the old testament.
May 19, 200619 yr Someone needs to tell ColDayMan that Sammy Davis Jr. died a while ago. "as an west sider, you must be catholic, so just go read the old testament." No thanks, I've dated too many Catholic guys as it is :-D clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 22, 200619 yr No thanks, I've dated too many Catholic guys as it is :-D I dated a guy who claimed to be a Recovering Catholic. He relapsed, and we broke up.
May 25, 200619 yr How about people confirm their plans to attend on this thread! :-) clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram

May 25, 200619 yr So uh...who's coming to this?!?! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
May 26, 200619 yr I want to go, but would like a place to stay...for free... if possible. Is anybody hosting?

May 26, 200619 yr I'm in. So is a friend of mine from Chicago who grew up here. Don't pressure him too hard to move back here. That's my job! As for a cheap place to stay that's clean, consider La Quinta Inn Cleveland Airport, 4222 West 150th Street. It's next to the RTA Puritas Rapid station (see http://www.riderta.com/pdf/66x.pdf ). The hotel is next to West 150th interchange with I-71 (one exit north of I-480). I found a cheap rate at about $65 per night there ( see http://www.hotels-rates.com/hotels_reservations/property/91614/ ). You can take the Rapid to downtown in about 20 minutes. Buy a day pass for $3 in exact change when you board. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
May 30, 200619 yr So umm...is anybody going to this?!?!? Or is there no pride in Cleveland anymore and you've all moved to Westerville!??! :) "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
