Posted June 27, 201410 yr I've recently started walking to work from my new house on the north side of Youngstown, when the weather is nice. So, I've had the opportunity to take a few photos. This was bought by the Butler, and converted to gallery space. The Butler, designed by McKim Mead and White: St. John's Episcopal Church: Jones Hall, centerpiece of YSU: Recently restored YWCA: Unfortunately, this view was made possible by the demolition of the Pilgrim Collegiate Church. http://metromonthly.wordpress.com/2012/12/07/video-final-days-of-pilgrim-collegiate-church-youngstown-ohio-dec-6-2012/ Main library, a Carnegie library: Masons: Now home to the Youngstown board of education, this was the original Rayen School, opened in 1866. I expect to add to this thread in the future, as I've left some things out.
June 27, 201410 yr I hope you do continue to add. We rarely see Youngstown threads on here and it deserves a spotlight. Thanks! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
June 28, 201410 yr The Butler is an incredible asset. The Wick corridor and Wick Park have great bones and potential.
June 29, 201410 yr Beautiful! Keep 'em coming. I'm doing as much business in Youngstown these days, so I look forward to any news/pics. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
