The Collection Auto Group is planning to open an all-glass, two-story Ferrari showroom and service center on Ontario Street near Public Square.

The Ferrari dealership is part of a 20-story office and condominium project planned for the sliver of land next to Horseshoe Casino Cleveland parking garage, just across the street from Quicken Loans Arena, according to a promotional video about the project, which was mistakenly posted online. The video was removed after the Northeast Ohio Media Group inquired about the project's details. (You can see screen shots of the building above that were taken from the video before it was removed.)

Holy sh@t! Ill trade the Stanley for that any day!

If the Stanley Block was the only undeveloped parcel left in the city, I would agree with you.

Fingers crossed this happens

My first reaction before even reading: is this real?! Am I looking at the right city thread?!!! Is this April fools????

C'mon MayDay stop playing around...Oh wait...

The one renderring aslo shows a completed 515 tower.  I love the looks of this tower too!  Fingers crossed.

I saw that too. What is this, an alternate universe?

Wow. Awesome!!!! Speechless.

I am now even more convinced that aliens will soon descend upon Cleveland.

The 515 Euclid building in one of the renderings is odd. But this has to be the most unlikely announcement i've heard... well, ever.

Maybe it's a sample marketing promo for a company trying to drum up business?

Wow. The building itself would be an incredible "Welcome to Cleveland" when coming off of I-90.  Even more impressive is the tie-in with Ferrari.  No matter what your opinion is of this "showroom" there is no doubt it will help change perceptions of Cleveland.  We don't really have any residences downtown for those who want to be considered the who's who of Cleveland and this could change that (although I think the lack of pretentiousness is part of what makes Cleveland great).

^ha!

Just before I posted this, I hit refresh a couple times to make sure there weren't some internet gremlins at work.

But I don't believe I remember reading anything about a project on this site before, let alone something like this...

It is all because The King is coming home.

not sure if you're teasing or serious.  I dont agree.  Something like this would have to have been in the works well before his announcement.

Think of all the NBA guys visiting that showroom before and after games. That's a built in customer.

This has "STRANGE" written all over it.

Once we know more, this could be a project that would get a bitch like me, to think about buying downtown.  If this project could get me [a person of a certain age, income bracket, lifestyle] to think about living Downtown, I'm sure thirty somethings in the area, who have friends that live in cities where condo living is considered "the norm", would think about moving to this or other buildings.  People are going to see this building as a bench mark of luxury living and want a piece of it.  If this is built, marketed and executed properly, I suspect, rental prices will go up and for purchase niche condos will start to pop up in places we didn't expect.  As I said earlier, the Chester/Payne/Superior corridor is ripe for high rise condos and apartments.

This development could very well mean the confidence and local attitude/perception in downtown living - in Cleveland - is changing.

Think of all the NBA guys visiting that showroom before and after games. That's a built in customer.

Not just NBA, Greater Cleveland has its fair amount of people who can afford luxury goods.  As I've said before, certain neighborhoods/zip codes in Cleveland internet shop at luxury brands more than any other city in the US.

^Well duh, I already figured you were a given too pick one up 8-)

You know me all too well!  But I LOVE my Shaker Sq.    The apartment would have to be the end-all-be-all for me to consider a move.

Bernie Moreno has come into this town in the last 5 years and has bought car brands and remodeled or built numerous dealerships. Having a Ferrari dealership in such a visible location would seem right up his alley... Thanks, Bernie..

Also.- in the aerial shot from south - the giant, gaping whole of a. parking lot on the north side of the Q - once offered up as a potential

Cavs training facility/luxury apartments (for the players) - sticks out even more. Time to turn that into something much better...

Just wow! Let's hope it happens and is not a "maybe we'll do this in 5 or 10 years" kind of thing. :-)

Have we really reached a point that announcements for 20 story buildings come from nowhere??  This has been an unbelievable 7 days for the city.  Wow.

since when was Cleveland L.A.?

I'm wondering how much of this is a part of their pitch to Ferrari to acquire the rights to a dealership versus your typical financing pitch.

The one renderring aslo shows a completed 515 tower.  I love the looks of this tower too!  Fingers crossed.

Looks like the Fifth Third Bank Building also grew by 15 stories.

Yeah, and Rosetta Center seems to be missing...

Either way, someone pinch me because I have to be dreaming. Next someone's going to tell me that the parking lot on public sq. is going to be turned into. 50+ story tower!

If I'm Porsche right now, I'm thinking "hey we've gotta counter this with something better!"

Dreaming lol.

This has been one heck of a week for Cleveland!

This project notes offices and condominiums....so there are your who's who residences perhaps?

I was just wondering from the orientation, this tower looks to have perfect, striking views of Tower City, Key and BP...and the Lake! Is there any other building downtown that offers such a view?

Downtown will never be complete without the Rock-o-meter

Wow...can you imagine how epic this is going to look while walking south down E.4th??

I saw the tweet for this and was half-waiting for the punch line.

However its clear this project is not yet ready-to-go, as it was removed from a publicly accessible website when the PD inquired about it.

This whole 'project' sounds a little unusual - from the way it was either 'leaked' to the public or accidentally disclosed, to the lack of specifics other than the Ferrari dealership and "condos and offices" description to its supposed sponsor.  Does Mr. Moreno have any history in enterprises of this type and scale?  It seems he is supposed to be the driving force behind the project.  Also, who owns the land where this building is supposed to be built? Has there been any change in its status/ownership?  Hopefully the PD will illuminate us all soon.

I'm sure Michelle Jarboe and Stan Bullard are hard at work right now trying to figure this one out.

Wow!  This is super exciting but the Cleveland realist in me is saying not to get too excited just yet...  :|

It's owned by Rock Ohio Caesar's Cleveland LLC. I think this is CAG going big to try and convince Ferrari that there should be more than one Ferrari dealership in Ohio, and they should be the ones to run it out of this place. Then hey maybe in a few years they can open one up in Cincinnati, or whatever other markets they've expanded to by then (Boston in progress).

I know that there was a car dealership that was considering going into the first floor of another existing downtown building, but I don't know anything more. Maybe they are considering other options or concepts.

Dumb question:  Wouldn't a dealership downtown really suck for a test drive?  You would take the car out and be in stop and go traffic.  Unless you just hopped onto I90 and let her rip!

Please return to the article. It has been updated and it's not quite as positive unfortunately.... Ferrari isn't currently interested. But they are still trying

A couple of issues.... First, I think there's some confusion as to this building's location. This is the grassy, pocket park on the "northwest" (actually more northerly) corner of Ontario and Huron owned by the City of Cleveland and in front of the former Gateway garage now owned by Rock Ohio Caesars Cleveland LLC. Because the land is owned by the City of Cleveland, it may have to sell the property though a sealed bid/RFP process as it has done and doing with other prime real estate it owns throughout the city (lakefront land by the stadium, vacant church at Lake & W117th, parking lot at East 13/Payne, etc). Perhaps others can provide more legal guidance on this?

Anyway, see the map below for this building's proposed location....

Second, you can post images of the building. In fact, any images posted on the Internet are for public consumption and are therefore not exclusive as long as the source of the material is identified. So let it be known that the imagines below are courtesy of Goldfarb Weber Creative Media via the Northeast Ohio Media Group. And with that, I say -- enjoy.......

Like I stated above, this all seemed very STRANGE (both the project and the way it was presented on line) and the updated article makes more sense now...obviously too good to be true.

We certainly get excited pretty quickly on this board.  It was fun while it lasted (a whole 4 hours).

Wow!  This is super exciting but the Cleveland realist in me is saying not to get too excited just yet...  :|

Why is pessimism (or any prediction of the future) equated with realism? And don't give me the Only In Cleveland self-defeatism. Its only purpose is to hold us back. And why is it too good to be true? If we want Cleveland to take the next steps, projects like this need to happen.

Granted, there is no building project yet and probably won't be until the city-owned property is sold through an open, public RFP process. But I love the aggressiveness and forward thinking! Progress occurs by pushing the edge out further and taking risks.

^True and good points but the original Naymik article presented it like a done deal.  Based on the updated article (thank you at least for doing that), the original was just poor journalism.  Jumped the gun for what ever reason.  Should have waited until he had all the facts.
