Pack them in at a cost effective way. I prefer SRO to "good" seats (most of the time). More places we have to stand and drink, the better. big yes to more standing areas. lately when i go to ball games i stand and walk around as much as sit in my seat anyway, regardless of where our seats are. 👍
March 12, 20241 yr Not sure it is fair yet to assess whether the final product will look good or look like the renderings. Still have to finish construction, painting & graphics, FFE, & people to make it look like the rendering. Plus, a cloudy sky in the background always makes the viewer subconsciously think it looks worse. If the update photos had been taken on a sunny day with blue skies, we may not think anything of it.
March 16, 20241 yr The open space in upper right doesn't look very good IMO. Maybe they can put up banners of Feller, Boudreau, Doby, etc. in that space to honor them as they did previously when the shipping containers were there. Edited March 16, 20241 yr by LibertyBlvd

March 19, 20241 yr I am (shockingly) happy with the blue seats. I initially thought they'd look odd and be too pronounced but they honestly look great. I am still unsure why this decision was made. What was wrong with the existing seats? They were functional, looked great, and served their purpose. Still seems like an unnecessary cost when there are plenty of other areas that will still need attention. Random question. Does anyone know what happens to the old seats? I hope they are repurposed (donated), and not thrown in a landfill.

March 19, 20241 yr I believe the decision to change the seat color was partially due to the lifespan of the green seats. They are showing their wear and tear. When they had the opportunity for replacement they thought why not make the change to the match the team colors. As for the green seats, many were moved to the upper right to add back the seats that the shipping containers occupied.

March 19, 20241 yr I thought the green seats looked OK - they blended in with the grass on the field. It's possible some of the new seats will be padded, at least those in the pricier sections. The team sent me a survey last year asking lots of questions about the seats and I remember there were a few about whether or not the seats should be padded. Edited March 19, 20241 yr by LibertyBlvd
March 19, 20241 yr There are actually a lot of blue padded seats, it looked like the first 10 rows from dugout to dugout were all padded.
March 20, 20241 yr Sign looks good. The "C" is great too. Does anyone have those renderings where they also wanted to light up the outside of the upper decks with red/blue? Those looked awesome and hope that is still in the plans. Would look kickass next to Rocket Mortgage with their curtain glass wall lit at night.

The problem that I foresee is padded seats retaining water.... you won't be able to just wipe them dry like the plastic seats.
March 20, 20241 yr ^ I’m sure they’ve thought of that. They’ll be vinyl-coated or something like that. There’s plenty of other outdoor stadiums in the world with padded seats. My hovercraft is full of eels
March 25, 20241 yr Perhaps the real reason for the installation of blue seats is to match all the Progressive signage.

March 26, 20241 yr DRONE OHIO's Facebook page has some amazing photographs of the renovation progress! It appears they are adding pennant style banners in the upper right field area. They appear to be attached to the back side of the light towers. I am surprised they went with metal siding that is reminiscent of the shipping containers on the upper deck buildings. They renovations are an improvement over the last renovation but these just look like additions/subtractions to a once great ballpark. March 28, 20241 yr Branding is one thing, but wow. I was prepared to be disappointed when I saw the initial garish red & blue circus-lighting plan. Still... yeesh, look at what has happened to our once proud and regal looking MLB stadium! Just about everything in this image looks like it was conceived by design school sophomores while the art professor was on a cigarette break. 1. What company was the Guardians' professional design consultant on this project? Have they only done work for minor league parks, cause that's what this now looks like 2. How much utility does Progressive Insurance get from this sloppily imperfect billboard? I'd say the look of the finished product devalues their corporate image. 😬😬😬😬😬 Edited March 28, 20241 yr by ExPatClevGuy
March 28, 20241 yr ^ "Progressive" haphazardly slapped over the Jacobs logo....GUARdians a lazy makeover of INdians font logo lol. The Dolans have absolutely no taste whatsoever.
March 28, 20241 yr Actually you got to hand it to the Dolans and their clever preservation of 'DIANS in the name. So they add GUAR. What is GUAR? a leguminous Indian plant, grown as a fodder crop and for the gum obtained from its seeds See what they did there? Those sly foxes!
March 28, 20241 yr And they are a fodder crop for other teams. Dolan plants them, grows them and just when they start to peak he sells them.

Yeah it reminds me of the lighting scheme on most K&D buildings. Taste isn't their strong point either. Edited March 28, 20241 yr by willyboy
March 29, 20241 yr Lanceaerial's instagram post show the led lighting being tested on the exterior! It's a bit garish when running through multiple colors . I don't mind the solid blue https://www.instagram.com/p/C5FFuGDp_z6/ Edited March 29, 20241 yr by dave2017 added photo
March 29, 20241 yr Wow, what's all this bashing of the Guardians, on Opening Day no less?! Please return to our regularly scheduled vitriol towards the Browns 😉 Edited March 29, 20241 yr by DO_Summers
March 29, 20241 yr It's not bashing. It's sharing updates that were made and what to expect when you see Progressive Field for this season. I'm excited to see the ballpark renovations that have been implemented and think many items are a great solution. I can't wait for the second phase to be completed for the 2025 season! March 30, 20241 yr IMO...it would look so better and make more sense that if they truly needed the large Progressive sign on the top; that they move the home base sign upwards, get ride of "progressive field on it, make the Guardians logo larger and centered on home base with the word "baseball" underneath . Maybe even add "home of" under the large progressive sign. Then keep "Welcome to Progressive Field" at the entrance.
March 30, 20241 yr I thought maybe those angled beams might have posed some restrictions on what they could put there, but after looking at Coors field and their two tiers of standing areas with the same type of supports in the way, it looks like this was just value engineered.
March 30, 20241 yr Welp, I guess it's a little better than the shipping containers, but IMO still not a good look.
March 31, 20241 yr All the Progressive Filed signage looks absolutely horrible. The stadium was a classy top three when it opened and not close to that any longer.
March 31, 20241 yr 1 hour ago, newyorker said: All the Progressive Filed signage looks absolutely horrible. I just don't need multiple, repetitive signage on every free wall space. The new Cleveland Guardian font is not the best design choice. The " Pennant District" shows that. I would have loved all the additional monetary funds spent on Progressive Field signage and seat color changes had gone for upgraded designs that didn't feel like value engineered add ons. I just feel we look at these adjustments and remember how great this park was and nobody states this as an improvement over what we had prior to 2014 All of the renovations that the Dolan's have made are questionable. I will be interested how it is perceived from the public once the season begins Does anyone know why Manica replaced NBBJ as the architect? NBBJ's proposed upgrades/design showed an integrated design that really worked for the entire upper deck. was it because the design was too expensive and if so why didn't they figure that out prior to presentation to us. Manica's design, while ok, just looks value engineered. Edited March 31, 20241 yr by dave2017
