April 4, 20241 yr Phase 1 renovations unveiled. https://www.news5cleveland.com/sports/cleveland-guardians/cleveland-guardians-unveil-first-phase-of-progressive-field-renovations-ahead-of-monday-home-opener
April 5, 20241 yr All in all, these improvements have made a big improvement from the shipping containers era! I am glad to see the investments made to the ballpark. A couple of notes/wishes I would love is that the main concourse renovations that were made in the past correct the brick tone to go back to the beige bricks rather than the red brick used. The signage throughout the ballpark had the same font style throughout. Not a huge fan of The Guardians new font. It doesn't look very refined and they seemed not to have updated the existing signage from year's past. The added awnings in the upper right deck and the left deck appear to be pitched at different angles/heights. I wonder what the reasoning was for this. A minor note for me are the banners hanging off the back of the light towers in the pennant district. They are odd to see from the field since the information is viewed backwards. A bit distracting and an unnecessary addition The main test for this season is to see how well these areas work and if they will make any refinements to them going forward.
April 8, 20241 yr This onslaught of Progressive advertising has gotten insane this year. We’ve all seen the ridiculous amount of signs on the outside of the stadium but they sure want people watching the game to know where they are playing too. Does anybody know why the sudden explosion of Progressive ads basically on any spot they can find? Maybe it’s the Dolans trying to help pay for their upgrades. Edited April 8, 20241 yr by GREGinPARMA
April 9, 20241 yr Well, that was a cakewalk today. Guards continue to look solid (despite the 3 double-plays). The White Sox are in for a looong season. My hovercraft is full of eels
April 9, 20241 yr anyone have pics from today of the updates from inside the stadium? Curious how they look in person
April 9, 20241 yr also I can see those new red and blue lights all the way from Ohio City lol. Really makes the stadium stand out now.

April 9, 20241 yr But wait, there will be more changes at the ballpark after this season, right? What will be happening besides replacing the rest of the green seats? Edited April 9, 20241 yr by LibertyBlvd

Hopefully it is open to everyone going forward. With all of the other construction going on and how many people were there yesterday, there wasn't anywhere near enough room for all of the standing room only crowd to actually watch the game. I had a seat, but friends said it took them 3.5 innings to actually find a place they were allowed to stand and watch an entire at bat.

April 9, 20241 yr Yeah I don’t see the issue of that. I’ve looked into having a private suite for a game and it’s pricey. Good on them for getting that locked in.

I believe they are doing a whole host of things in the bowels of the ballpark to update and enhance player amenities. I am not sure if they were finished this off season or will be part of the next round of construction starting in the fall. Edited April 9, 20241 yr by Htsguy
April 9, 20241 yr They'll also have more time to figure out where they can add additional Progressive Field signage. LOL!
April 10, 20241 yr Just a thought but my guess is Progressive Ins. had everything to do with the seats going from green to blue. Ill bet next year you will see all of the padding surrounding the field go blue also. They said its for the uniforms but I don't think so. I mean the Progressive color on all of their branding is blue.
April 10, 20241 yr I mean they did extend the naming rights for a long time so that wouldn't be totally unexpected if they wanted to influence some changes to make it better match the brand: Quote The deal runs through 2036 and would automatically be extended at the end of the term through the 2041 baseball season should the ballpark lease be extended through that period. Mayfield, Ohio-based Progressive has been the naming rights partner of the Guardians since 2008. Seems we better get use to all the PGR signage around the park lol.

April 11, 20241 yr Had my first change to see the renos last night. Replacing the shipping containers with the open air spaces in the upper deck is a huge win. Blue seats look nice - especially when they're all changed. Seems there must be a better way to block the Terrace Club vs. the loose-hanging Guardians banner. Also, the concourses suddenly seem to really need a facelift. Is this part of the plan?

People are acting like one of the Guardians main colors isn’t blue and it’s a big conspiracy that Progressive made them change to blue seats.
April 14, 20241 yr I kind of see the seat color change as when you buy a new house but it takes you 20 years to update the previous owners paint colors. Eventually, when you stay in a home ling enough you'll want to truly make it your own.
April 14, 20241 yr The seat color change doesn't bother me knowing that the remaining green seats will be changed during the next offseason. Also note the color variation isn't very noticeable when bodies fill the seats. Edited April 14, 20241 yr by dave2017

This seems like the typical issue Cleveland has, they like sticking to the old ways and oppose changing due to "Tradition", fans still won't be quiet about the name change.

Of course it is not “the same”, but it goes to show that people are adverse to change and they have an “opinion” over even as insignificant a thing as the color of a seat. Anyway, I would upload some pics with the very good to amazing changes they did in both left and right field, but unlike usual, the system isn’t letting me upload photos from the iOS Photos app.

April 14, 20241 yr "Anyway, I would upload some pics with the very good to amazing changes they did in both left and right field, but unlike usual, the system isn’t letting me upload photos from the iOS Photos app." Same here, with iPhone A workaround I use is to attach the photo to an email and send it to myself, then open the email in a new window next to the Urban Ohio reply box, then drag and drop it from the email to the reply. However, I am doing the last two steps on a Windows computer. Hope this helps.

April 19, 20241 yr This "Cleveland" font has bothered me that the "V" can also be perceived as a "U". I have a couple of other observations that maybe someone has the answer. First is I wonder why the new shade awning structures are angled differently from the 2 areas. The Terrace Garden's are at a higher pitch as they sit at least four feet back from the upright front post. The Pennant District's angle is directly at the front post. Second question, Are there mentions of what all the jersey numbers reference throughout the district? Lastly, It feels that The Pennant District should add some tv screens like The Terrace Garden so the fans can see the action when seated near the bar areas Edited April 19, 20241 yr by dave2017
April 19, 20241 yr The lettering style bothers me as well. It is too large and clunky on the road uniforms. I wish they would go back to the script lettering they used before the name change. Where did they move Feller, Boudreau and other players they were paying homage to? Edited April 19, 20241 yr by LibertyBlvd

That or add an online sports gambling tax to the sin tax and have record breaking revenue for stadium repairs.
